The anarchist infoshop newspaper box has about 100 zines so far. Please feel free to take borrow and add zines to the collection.

Located at 4th Ave. and Washington St. in Downtown Olympia

that box is violating the PIO

It should be moved somewhere where the sidewalk is wider.

1st Admendment rights

May trump that.  Other newspaper boxes don't seem to be a problem

Nope.

Other newspaper boxes have permission to be there from the city.

How hard can it be?

"SECTION 5 FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Every person may freely speak, write and publish on all subjects, being responsible for the abuse of that right."

I wonder how the freely publish part of the State Constitution meshes with having to beg permission to put up a distribution point for literature?

You can still do those things.

That doesn't say anything about blocking a right of way. You should send the council an email and ask for an explanation, it's their ordinance, and I'm sure as hell not interested in defending it.

Ehhh... I could care less

I think the box is a great thing, and it doesn't seem to impede traffic.  If the city gets uppity about it I'll write a letter, but right now it's there and to me that's a good thing.
