Experience the magical music of our community.

Express yourself, connect with your community, release stress and have fun! No experience necessary, fun for all levels of experience. Beginners are especially encouraged to attend. Family friendly!

Experience playing music together in an ensemble. Facilitated improvisation/freestyle drumming and percussion. If you've been thinking about something new and different then this amazing event is for you. Discover your natural sense of rhythm (even if you don't think you have any). Bring your drum and percussion instruments or play some of ours.

Dancers are always welcome at Rhythm Events. What would the music be without dancers?

It’s Not A Rumor

There was a rumor going around the drum community that there might be a impromptu gathering of drummers at the water fountain near Traditions on these gorgeous summer Friday evenings around 7pm-ish. It’s not a rumor it’s a fact! Su is the instigator and we joined her and at least a dozen of here coconspirators last Friday for a wonderful evening of musical bliss. Will she be there next Friday if the weather is good? Well you will just have to drop in and find out for yourself!

Bring an instrument just in case.

 

Drum Fun

The Olympia drum circle known as "Drum Fun" is happening regularly! They are meeting Wednesdays at the United Churches. (110 11th Ave SE, Olympia, WA 98501)

They will be making fun rhythms from 7pm to 9pm and hope you can make it. Bring your instruments if you have some or share theirs if you don't. Simple instruction is available so don't let lack of experience keep you away.

Samba in Olympia

Like Samba?  Samba Olywa (based in OLYmpia, WAshington) is an amateur percussion and dance group dedicated to building community through the learning and sharing of Samba and other rhythms. Wow, they are everywhere and getting better all the time! Keep up the great work!

Crow Drummers

If you want to experience the African style of music it doesn't get any better than Olympia's own Crow Drummers lead by the incredible local artist and musician Bret BenRaven.

They play traditional West African instruments, djembe, dunun, bells, shakers, etc. and traditional West African rhythms and songs, mostly from Guinea and Mali as well as original compositions.

Fourth Friday of the month 7-10pm upstairs in the Eagles (805 4th Ave E, Olympia)

3 hours of continuous dynamic drumming. Bring your drum, percussive toys and endurance. Or just bring your bodies and dance. All ages welcome in this smoke and alcohol free venue. All levels will benefit from the experience. Fade in and out at your leisure. Don’t forget your water.

Planet Percussion

Fun multi-instrumental percussion band that also performs (ya gotta see them!) This is an amazing ongoing group of volunteers lead by the founder Jay Sicilia. In 2004 they were awarded the “Cultural Diversity and Community Service Award” from Thurston County. This is a really fun and educational musical experience.

Mas Uda

The art of Middle Eastern dancing has been practiced for thousands of years and is still being enjoyed by performer and audience alike. The intriguing rhythms are mesmerizing. Mas Uda Translates to “happy” or “fortunate” and they are famous for sharing their joy and enthusiasm wherever they perform.

Instructor, Kashani offers classes and workshops in dance, Middle Eastern rhythms and finger cymbals among other topics.
