Without making judgements here, this page from the Armed Security Study Guide provides some interesting insights on the use of force... Okay, I can't get a decent copy of the PDF file here.... It is number page seven, or page 11 in Adobe...
If someone can get an image of the page I referenced, please help me out...

We've created a wiki page (at wetpaint.com) that we can all use to create a new Social Contract. Anyone can add, delete, change and, hopefully, improve the language. So, have at it, and let's make something that works for OlyBlog. You'll need to create an account with wetpaint in order to edit the wiki. Use the comments on this thread to discuss changes.

This is the opposite map of Where Meta's voters where. If that old maps illustrated where the three most progressive precincts where in Olympia for the last election, these are certainly not those. Depending on how you see it, you could say these are the center of Olympia or the far right. View Larger Map These aren't all of the precincts won by both Rhenda and Craig, but the ones that they both won by a lot. I pulled a number out of the air, but you can see the data I worked from here. Generally speaking, these precincts ring Olympia on the south east side and the north west, geographically at least, not the center of Olympia. The inclusion of the three north west precincts, though, seems to disprove Dylan's point that more progressive voters come from out towards Evergreen. Then again, those precincts might be kind of pricey for Evergreen associated folks. The most interesting thing for me is the two precincts that border two of Meta's on the Eastside, Olympia 52 and Olympia 49. Any thoughts?

Don't Let the Port of Tacoma Destroy Thurston County
» The Port of Tacoma has bought 745 acres of land just south of Olympia to turn into a huge “logistics center” (South Sound Logistics Center). Preliminary information shows that this would involve a complete transformation of this whole area, with thousands more trucks clogging our freeways and small country roads each day, hundreds of trains blocking access roads, a possible solid waste transfer facility, a possible chemical manufacturing center, and so on. The project represents an assault on what remains of rural Thurston County, and a major threat to the regional treasure that is Millersylvania State Park with its 500,000 annual visitors. A citizen has filed for a rezone of the involved area to make it more difficult to use this land so inappropriately. Please join our efforts to protect Thurston County’s resources and rural character by adding your name to the list of supporters of the proposed rezone (see attached). The list will be presented to the county as an addendum to the rezone filing. For more information, please visit our website: E-mail us at FORPrairie@hotmail.com Call Sharron at (360) 866-7596 Attached is a PDF of the petition. Please print it off get your friends and family to sign and mail back to Sharron. Lets keep Thurston Co. a beautiful place.

In a recent discussion on Olyblog, I referred to "Charlie" (AKA Charlie Kirry) as "Amateur Photog" Only after I got a PM from his wife, did I go back to the thread to see that Charlie had responded to me. The thread is several days old and I rarely go back that far for updates and new posts. His comment: "Oh, one other thing, Larry: quit calling me an amateur. I've been earning a living with my cameras for 20 years. By definition, I am a professional photographer. I had just finished a commercial job that morning." My clarification in context. My point in refering to Charlie as an "amateur" was to differentiate Charlie from Olympian photographers, which as you all might recall, were talked about in other discussions in terms of having batons swung at them and pepper sprayed, until the police were advised of who they were. I did not intend to insult Charlie's professional status as a photographer, but I do question as to why the police in the video seemed to give him carte blanche in an area were they had just used a baton to push to college kids. My illustration was more focused at the police activity and less at Charlie, but he just happened to be the "citizen photographer" that was in the video. Therefore, let me publically apologize to Charlie for any slight he might have felt by my verbage. As many on here know, I'm a musician. I've been paid for many years for my services, thus I, too, am a professional. It's not a sensitive point, per se, because I'm only as important as people think I might be on a given night at a given venue. Charlie, as to the rest of your comments - especially about the "teaching of Marxism" (like education is a crime) and the inflammatory remarks about "lawlessness" and such, you really helped illustrate my point on Robert's blog that the protest issue is more rhetoric than reality. |
