Three longtime residents of the Bread and Roses Women's Guesthouse have finally found a place to live, and have been approved to move in this weekend. However, at this time they are unable to pay the entirety of their deposit and are in desperate need of a financial contribution from a caring person/ persons/charity/church/organization/ what-have-you. They need $450 total, and if we can get people in the community to contribute half of it, Bread and Roses can match it and they can have a wonderful home to move into for Christmas. These women are outstanding people, and have overcome adversity, challenged the stronghold of poverty and chronic homelessness, and worked tirelessly to contribute back to our community. They are on the brink of beginning a new life, and are more than deserving of the opportunities that we often take for granted, such as a place to live. Their deposit needs to be in place by tomorrow, and as a community I think we owe these women a chance at a new life. All they are asking for is $225, which is not very much at all. I have called everywhere for assistance, and all of the organizations are completely tapped out until January, which will be far too late for these three. Please consider helping them, they REALLY need it! If you would like to help out, please call Cassie at the Bread and Roses Advocacy Center at 754-4588. I will be here until 4:30, and can be reached on my cellphone any time after that at 870-5996. Time is of the essence, so if you want to act, please do so today! Thank you so much! In Love,

Like I wrote in the first of this series, there is so much happening on OlyBlog that it can be easy to miss out on all the treasures. For this episode I invite you all to browse around through enpen's work. Special focus on the documentation of Oly visuals. Visit: And I've probably missed other places where his work is stashed. OlyBlog is all the richer because of these gems. Enjoy.

This is the third in a series of eight posts about the eight folks who want to take Doug Mah's old seat on the Olympia city council. This will be a short one, so I might get around to writing another one if no one minds and I have the time. Karen Veldheer has an axe to grind, and that's pretty much all you need to know about her application to the city council. According to her application, the vast majority of her civic participation has been in her Cooper Crest neighborhood association. Don't get me wrong, I love NAs. In many ways they're the heart and soul of civic life in Oly. But, they should be more of a constant presence and less of a "lets's win this battle" sort of organization. Karen V.'s fight has been with her homebuilder, who she said built a sub-par subdivision. The Olympian: Homeowners sues developer In this process, I think we're looking for qualified people above people with a cause. Having something you want to do would be great if you were running for office, but not a great thing if you're trying to find a qualified replacement.

As most here know, I have given S6 my opinion on open carry, which was in conflict with him.
But after reading a lot over the last week or so, watching vids on Youtube, and contemplating the issue, I wanted to publicly say, I think S6 is right! I know he doesn't need my validation, but since I kicked him around a bit publicly, I felt I owed him a public reversal.
I still take issue with open carry from a tactical point of view, most importantly being disarmed. But the philosophy behind open carry I believe is a good one.
So S6 you have another convert.

Yev Gerasimenko was taking his turn caring for his 4-day-old daughter while his wife rested. He was interrupted by loud knocks at the door and answered it to find two large men. One asked for someone Gerasimenko didn’t know. “I said, ‘There’s nobody here by that name,’ and I shut the door as soon as I could,” he explained.
That’s when police say the biggest man took a running start and slammed into the door. Gerasimenko called for his wife to take their baby, lock herself in the bathroom and phone police. He loaded his 9 mm handgun and yelled for the man to leave, but he continued trying to breach the door. “I’m shouting, ‘I have a gun! Why are you trying to break into my house? I’ll shoot you if you don’t go away,’” Gerasimenko recalled. But the suspect didn’t heed the warning. Gerasimenko fired two shots, wounding the suspect and holding him for police.
“ … A gun in a good responsible citizen’s hand is a blessing,” Gerasimenko said.

» THE A PRIORI GROUNDS OF THE POSSIBILITY OF EXPERIENCE THAT a concept, although itself neither contained in the concept of possible experience nor consisting of elements of a possible experience, should be produced completely a priori and should relate to an object, is altogether contradictory and impossible. For it would then have no content, since no intuition corresponds to it; and intuitions in general, through which objects can be given to us, constitute the field, the whole object, of possible experience. An a priori concept which did not relate to experience would be only the logical form of a concept, not the concept itself through which something is thought. Pure a priori concepts, if such exist, cannot indeed contain anything empirical; yet, none the less, they can serve solely as a priori conditions of a possible experience. Upon this ground alone can their objective reality rest. If, therefore, we seek to discover how pure concepts of understanding are possible, we must enquire what are the a priori conditions upon which the possibility of experience A96 rests, and which remain as its underlying grounds when everything empirical is abstracted from appearances. A concept which universally and adequately expresses such a normal and P 130
