Did anyone catch the article in The Olympian about the man who wants a permit to burn a flag on the Capitol steps? They turned him down for "pollution" issues... Now here's the fun part. He wants to burn a Mexican flag to protest immigration policies. If flag burning is protected speech, can they limit it on these pollution claims? What if he burnt a paper flag? I'm not weighing in on any of the issues here, I think the guy should be "allowed" (I hate that word in regards to Civil Rights) to go ahead and do it.

After viewing the video Enpen posted of the lasraffiti (grafser?), I got really excited. I want to do this for ArtsWalk downtown. I talked to Guglielmo and it sounds like he has some of the tools we need. More soon. Oh, and I love this video too and I think I'm going to make my own in this style, it looks like fun.

[Phan Nguyen's op-ed in today's Olympian:] For two weeks in November, the Port Militarization Resistance (PMR) confronted war operations in Olympia's backyard. Depending on one's perspective, it was either a show of the determination of concerned residents standing up to an illegal and immoral war and occupation, or it was simply all hell breaking loose. The perspective depends on what one chooses to focus on.

Our embarrassing President provides a very recent example of a violation of OlyBlog's new social contract regarding intellectual honesty. Bush lies and people die. Why do people around the world hate and distrust our country again?

Jusby's done some of his holiday shopping already. He went to Orca Books for three gifts.
» He went to Wind up Here for several gifts... including a playmobil set for Orion (shhhh...)
Orion also gets gifts on Winter Solstice. He'll get a headlamp, a clip-light for the car, and a color changing light that attaches to the bathroom sink. What are readers buying/selling/ trading?Remember that Jusby and Trish are participating in the Thurston County Waste Free Holidays program again this year!
