Would you like to see your story as a movie?

I'm always looking for fresh material and new creative collaborators.

What's your word?

Back in the 1930s the Olympia telephone book included numbers for Shelton, Hoodsport, Union, and a place called Pixley. I cannot find any other reference for such a settlement. Anyone out there in OlyBlogland know where this is/was?

I want your art!

I'm having an art raffle to raise awareness and money for Juan Ruiz's legal defense. This will be an amazing showing of local Olympia artwork. ANY original art welcome (paintings, collages, CDs, sculpture, etc...) You'll get your work showed for free and you'll get that fuzzy feeling you get when you help other people.

Juan is a good friend of mine who recently got arrested while peacefully protesting at the US/Mexican border. He is now facing life in prison and deportment (to a country he hasn't been to since he was 4). For more info about juan or to watch the video of him getting beaten by the police (he's the one with the drum), check out savejuanruiz.blogspot.com

for more info about donating artwork or about the raffle contact me, Tasha 703 303 2513, tashaglen@gmail.com

***I'll update in a day or two with more details about the party

The 12 Days of Christmas (Day IV)

presented to you by einmaleins olympia and supporting Bread and Roses Advocacy Center.

Here it is: This years Holiday Shopping Guide, highlighting 2007's hottest, funnest, most useful and wonderful gift ideas for you, your family, your woman, your man and everyone. To keep it interesting and exciting, and shouldn't everything be just that, we'll stretch it out over the next couple of weeks.

This is how it works: einmaleins will be posting our 12 Days of Christmas Holiday Shopping Guide over the course of the next few weeks. When you come by our store to shop our great selection of gifts and mention the Olyblog.net website we will be giving a percentage of the proceeds of your purchase to the Bread and Roses Advocacy Center and you will be getting a cool gift.

{4] On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me four calling birds, three French hens, two doves and a partridge in a pear tree.
Don't send a bird, the postage is horrendous - send a postcard with your Best Wishes for the Season and for a better year! We got a great selection. Oh and while you're here, buy a new fountain pen for that extra special touch.

Come by our store to take a look at those products and find more great gift ideas.

For more information and all the days together on one page, go to:

We're excited to welcome you at einmaleins

"Portland Oregon duo HILLSTOMP has duct-taped together a vigorous lo-fi hill country punk blues, clanging and tumbling from assorted vintage mics, buckets, cans and BBQ lids, drenched in rambunctious slide guitar." From CD Baby.

And you can enjoy them live, next Saturday at Olympia's 4th Ave Tavern, show starts @ 9:30 pm. Brackish Water Band opens

Admission $3 and worth every penny.

To repeat the title, Damn, it's snowing again. There's already a film covering the ground. I need to drive in 45 minutes, I don't have much choice. Just because I can drive in this stuff and know how doesn't mean I like to.

Besides, snow's no fun without snowboots and ski jackets and gloves and a yard, and then if there's not enough to build a snowman then what's the point?

Bah!

A conversation in another thread has me thinking of this chorus from a David Rovics song:

For I am the Vanguard of the Masses
And all of you should just follow me
And if you doubt my analysis
You must be in the Petty Bourgeoisie!
