If anyone knows how to setup a vote system PLEASE clue me in.

It seems that Mondays are not the best evenings for some of us to get together.

Consider this an informal survey/vote for the best day/time for us to get together.

I'll try and keep track of the results as we go.

Masculinity:

The ability to workout while singing the song, "Girlfriend", by Avril Lavigne, a little bit louder than you really thought you were. And then just shrugging it off when your coworker ( who is working out next to you ) starts laughing at you uncontrollably.

Almost every week this is the "What's on the city council's plate this week" review. I don't cover everything, so if you want the full rundown, read the packet and agenda yourself.

It looks like the city council is going to start charging kids (or rather their families) $100 to attend after school programs that the city runs in several Olympia School District buildings. Which is too freaking bad, I know some parents are probably using these programs as baby sitters, but that is honestly where the need is coming from. A lot of families have two bread winners, and middle school aged (and younger) kids don't have options for supervised play outside of these programs.

Here is the meat of the city's decision making process for this Tuesday. A bit of the background (OPARD is Olympia Parks and Recreation):

Do some talking, get some coffee in the system, get a little personal and have some 1 on 1 vs. blogging. This is a healthy thing folks and I think everyone who attended Mondays at the broho enjoyed them for this reason. Put a face to a name and such.

I propose a solution to the homeless crisis, the social service crisis and the steady drop in funding for the poor, the disabled and the elderly. The City of Olympia, Tumwater or Lacey can declare EMINENT DOMAIN on an abandoned building and literally give it or lease it to a social service agency or Church or Non-Profit. This agency would then use it in trust, used exclusively for the purpoase of helping the 1000s in need. It is so simple. It is so easy. Naturally, Republicans will hate it!

An interesting survey of the radio spectrum in Olympia, by the Olympian:

Washington's capital city is a radio twilight zone where the dominant Seattle stations only sort of come in, leaving the void to a wacky brew of locally owned stations.

There's Free Radio Olympia, a pirate FM station temporarily off the air as it plays a cat-and-mouse game with the Federal Communications Commission.

There's KAOS at The Evergreen State College, one of the first stations to spin Nirvana.

And on the AM dial, there's KGY, an 85-year-old signal that was one of the first stations in the nation.

Matt seems to have left 87.7 out of the survey, but does mention FRO. Hurray for independent, local media!
