We've been talking about this a little bit lately, and just to clear up some hype I figured I'd post some informative links. My semi-technical attempt at describing a "Glock": A Glock is a semi-automatic, polymer-framed, striker-fired, Quasi-double-action-only, centerfire handgun available in mid/major caliber offerings such as 9mm, .40 S&W, .357 SIG, .45 GAP, .45 ACP, 10mm and (not available in the US) .380 ACP. They are relatively lightweight, accurate, ergonomic and incredibly durable. They have no external manual safety equipped on them. They have 3 internal safetys that are all disengaged once you pull the trigger. They run on the theme that most double-action revolvers do: The best safety is inbetween your ears, keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire. From Wikipedia: Glock is an Austrian weapons manufacturer (named after the founder Gaston Glock) founded in 1963 in Deutsch-Wagram, near Vienna, Austria. Mainly known for being the manufacturer of polymer-framed pistols, Glock also produces equipment such as field knives and entrenching tools. The company started life as a manufacturer of curtain rods, then branched out into supplying the Austrian Army with machine gun belts, practice hand grenades, plastic magazines, field knives and entrenching tools. Since then, the company has added different options and accessories such as tactical lights and a quick-draw holster to its product line. While Glock marketing materials spell the company name as if it were an acronym ("GLOCK"), newspapers in Austria, Germany, and the United States forgo the capitalization of all letters in the interest of readability. and a quick picture of a Glock 23:

A spokeswoman for the Washington State Board of Pharmacy confirmed Tuesday that the complaints filed against Ralph’s Pharmacy for refusing to stock and dispense Plan B emergency contraception as prescribed are now in the process of legal review by Board of Pharmacy staff attorneys. Presumably, a Board Panel has found Ralph’s to be in violation of Washington State pharmacy code.
Until the legal review is completed, details of the findings against Ralph’s are not public information. However, the complaints would not be subject to legal review unless violations were found and disciplinary action had been recommended by the Board Panel.

stevenl : My heart. It is such a powerful symbol. I'd probably put wings on it or something. But if I took it out and made an art piece of out if it, I'd be dead, and aorta know better than that. If you were trapped in a whale and had the materials and time to create one more story before being digested, who/what would be the central character and why? In an answer that sort of links to your first question, I would draw a black and white line story with #1 lead pencil called "15 Heart Attacks." It would be based on a friend of mine who died mysteriously in Roswell, NM a dozen years ago. Really. Actually, I have put some work into this project over the last 3 years, but I think I would be required to be inside a whale in order to have the peace and quiet to complete it. I would also need ambergris -proof boots. Is it true that you recently took away all of your work from The Danger Room in order to manipulate the art market? Yes, I recently retired my comix inventory from the Danger Room. The reason was simple. I'm broke and needed the $$$. But my comix still appear on eBay and through Rick Bradford's site. What is Morty the dog's song? Morty the Dog sings in many of his comix-- an influence of those old Mad Magazine "sung to the tune of" tricks. His song is in the cadence and timing of his speech. If he was in animated cartoon, I would imagine his voice to be deep, alcohol-ravaged, and wheezed out from too many cigars. When I write his dialogue I frequently think of Bogart in the role of Fred C. Dobbs in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre . * Steve Willis' two part show, Bezango WA 985 , is on display at the Batdorf & Bronson Coffeehouse (516 S. Capitol Way ) from yesterday until July 30, 2007, switching from part 1 to 2 on July 1. *

I drove by what looked like a bush fire in front of the Stormans' office on 4th Ave behind Ralph's Thriftway........or more accurately the aftermath of a fire. One bush or perhaps ornamental tree was completely blackened and the fire department was spraying down the sidewalk and area. The nearest traffic lane was blocked off. This all was around 5:30 pm Wed. Know anything about this? Update: This is listed in the OPD June 7th Activity Summary as arson, currently under active investigation. Case #07-4590 pdf file

This article examines the impact of Speed, Overstimulation, Consumerism and Industrialization on our Minds and Environment. Please read. Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment. The fast-paced, consumerist lifestyle of Industrial Society is causing exponential rise in psychological problems besides destroying the environment. All issues are interlinked. Our Minds cannot be peaceful when attention-spans are down to nanoseconds, microseconds and milliseconds. Our Minds cannot be peaceful if we destroy Nature. The link between Mind and Social / Environmental-Issues. Subject : In a fast society slow emotions become extinct. Subject : A thinking mind cannot feel. Subject : Scientific/ Industrial/ Financial thinking destroys the planet. Subject : Environment can never be saved as long as cities exist. Emotion is what we experience during gaps in our thinking. If there are no gaps there is no emotion. Today people are thinking all the time and are mistaking thought (words/ language) for emotion. When society switches-over from physical work (agriculture) to mental work (scientific/ industrial/ financial/ fast visuals/ fast words ) the speed of thinking keeps on accelerating and the gaps between thinking go on decreasing. There comes a time when there are almost no gaps. People become incapable of experiencing/ tolerating gaps. Emotion ends. Man becomes machine. A society that speeds up mentally experiences every mental slowing-down as Depression / Anxiety. A ( travelling )society that speeds up physically experiences every physical slowing-down as Depression / Anxiety. A society that entertains itself daily experiences every non-entertaining moment as Depression / Anxiety.
