So, if the docent emails are correct, then we have an open docent position.

Because we have no written procedure, I'm proposing we create one.

One idea:
Anytime there is an opening for a docent position, there will be a one week nominating period where members will submit names for nomination. If nominated individuals do not want the position, they may ask to be removed from the list. After one week's time, the list is closed and voting takes place. Anyone may vote, voting takes place via poll on the mainpage.

I realize the polls are not secure and people can vote twice, but still, using the honor system, I think this seems like a fair way to choose docents. I firmly believe that OlyBlog needs to be member driven, and if docents elect docents then all the power to steer the blog is pooled in the hands of a few.

I urge everyone who can make it to join me at St Pete's monday morning to support the picketing nurses. I'll be there with pastries and juice, if someone could brew alot of coffee that would be awesome. The more community support we show, the sooner they can get back to the job they love, which is CARING FOR YOU AND I WHEN WE ARE SICK. These are the most caring individuals in the health care industry, and they're being pushed around. WE CAN NOT ALLOW IT. If you can't make it to the picket, please write a letter of support for the nurses and send it in. These people work long, hard hours out of compassion for their fellow human beings, and they deserve better than what they're getting. Get mad, raise your voice, and together we can break their haughty power.

SOLIDARITY FOREVER!

Note to readers: The following is a critique of a letter to the editor in today's edition of The Olympian. The commentary is intended to reflect feelings and thoughts on the reader's content and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the policies and operations of The Olympian. The letter's author's name has been abreviated in cooperation with Olyblog Docents conversations on this type of material submitted by me.

We are quick to sue in this nation

Here we go again, a never-ending saga about a careless young kid that thought she could wave her arms and fly or stop a 60-ton bulldozer as it approached her. A thinking brain would have jumped out of the way.

But no, she says, I want to be a martyr. This is my mother’s teachings. Now I can blame the world for my meddling in foreign affairs.

A group from the same college, Evergreen, traveled to Mexico City, Mexico, to force their thinking on people of that city. They were quickly told to leave Mexico. If Rachel Corrie had been told to leave the Middle East, she would be alive today in spite of herself.

Now if I understand the Corries’ thinking on suing the makers of the bulldozer, then all of the automaker industry must be held responsible for the more than 30,000 people killed in vehicles each year because they know it will happen.

What a sue-happy nation. We are disgusting!

J. J., Olympia

J.J.:

Your letter goes beyond a critique of "suing" and into the politics of Ms. Corrie's actions. I therefore wish to address this part first.

And this is just the list of stuff that they will admit to working on.

I encourage people to do a keyword search of clandestine intelligence+U.S.

Research is much of the process involved in writing a fiction book. Fiction may be the safest way to document the fascism that is threating the human race. Yes my friends you will just have to read between the lines.

Solidarity,
