I've kind of been wondering what most of the regulars here do for a living. With mainstream journalists it's their main gig so you can usually guess, to some extent, what sort of training and professional experience lay behind the judgements and opinions they offer. I guess with some of you it's come out here and there and with a few (like OlyCop) it was obvious. By regulars I guess I mean Rick and the docents, but also anyone else who cares to share what they do, and what they're trained in. I'll start. I got my BA at Evergreen back in the 90s, studying mostly History and World Literature, but I own my own software company now (I'm the only employee at the moment).

...we've created a new header for the blog (thanks Zach! - a.k.a. Ehver Green). It looks like we still have a few bugs to work out with the dimensions, however. Please bear with us while we take care of that.

We need to find a place for several reasons. For one, it is getting colder, and our inexpensive little rental house does not have adequate heating. The landlord says the old electrical won't tolerate it. Imagining spending the colder months marooned in a tiny house with damp and musty blankets, a space heater, and two young children bouncing like pinballs around our 800 square feet makes me feel crazy.

I like the new night time graphic! I'm in a bit of denial about the loss of daylight hours, but maybe this new graphic will make it all okay.
