I have been seeing this turning up around the internet today.

I am posting links only because of the graphic images.

What is really disgusting is the fact that some college students and the college chanellor cheered the Iranian President and his remarks, and that he along with Hitler were welcomed to speak at Columbia University. I can only hope the Alumni funds dry up.

In today's Olympian there's an article on how Tumwater hasn't hired a new Chief of Police in almost a year. It explains how Acting Chief John Stines doesn't want the position for reasons of Job Security, and shows how those without strong local ties would prefer the better money of a larger city like Tacoma.

Nothing in the article was fishy until this quote from Tumwater head of Human Resources Eric Trimble:

I'm just speculating that perhaps it's harder for them to meet employment standards than it was before. Now there's criminal background checks and that type of thing.

As commenter Toad Man said in their forums: "Now there’s a jaw dropper if I ever saw one."

Carolyn (goecono) and I went over to our friend Kay's on Sunday and pressed some apples. I've already got 5 gal. in the basement bubbling away. I think I'm going to put up another batch from this pressing. If anyone's got apples that are going to waste, drop me a note. oldtimeydave is also in the pressing business.

TJ Johnson just sent out on the OMJP listserv a document (I posted below) from Lakefair to the Port of Olympia, asking them to invite the USS Olympia and two Canadian war ships to Lakefair next year.

This mostly speaks for itself, but I have a couple of observations.

1. Wow, doesn't it seem early? We were just talking about this.

2. Doesn't this put a new spin on the port elections? If you're anti-war, not only can you focus on using the port as a shipping point to Iraq, but this also now.
