From www.cnn.com (CNN) -- Heidi Gill admits she had been drinking at a bar in Warren, Ohio, and gotten into a "disagreement" with a bartender earlier this month. But she said she didn't deserve to have a police officer use a Taser gun on her multiple times. Video footage from the police cruiser shows Gill, 38, crawling on the ground while the officer stands over her with the stun gun. She's screaming wildly. At one point, officer Rich Kovach shoves her with his foot as she struggles. "I've never been electrocuted," she told CNN's "American Morning" on Wednesday. "I didn't know what this was. And I really didn't think this pain was ever going to stop. It was nonstop." Ok, so this is how she felt. I'm sure it was terrible. What did this woman do? In the police report, Kovach describes responding to a "fight/disturbance" at the Up A Creek tavern and finding a belligerent Gill, who began cursing, refused to give her real name, then ran to the back of the property and got into a sport utility vehicle that wasn't hers. She was hunched in the driver's seat hiding from Kovach, according to the report. "She was drunk behind the wheel of a car," Hicks said. The officer asked her to get out and she refused, trying to "climb over to the passenger seat to jump out the passenger side of the car. I then Tasered her from my position," the report said. Kovach acknowledges using the stun gun several more times to try to get her under control. He said once he got her into his cruiser, she kicked out the back window, tried to climb in the front of his car and would not listen to him, the report said.

Oct 4 2007 - 1:00pm Oct 6 2007 - 6:00pm "The non-violent approach does not immediately change the heart of the oppressor. It first does something to the hearts and souls of those committed to it. It gives them new self-respect; it calls up resources of strength and courage that they did not know they had." -DR. Martin Luther King Jr.

So basically what i was going for there, was that this man was asked to give a speech for the graduating class of (I believe) '99 for Evergreen. He was welcomed by most of the school from what I've read, a few students were against it. It was a big enough deal that apparently Gov. Locke decided to not attend the graduation. Who is this guy? A convicted cop-killer that should have been electrocuted when I was a child, yet lives on because he has a cult following. I'd go further into it but I would just become angry. Wikipedia has some good information. The cop he killed was Daniel Faulkner, at the bottom of the page you'll find this link. I encourage anyone interested to read it.

...a samurai suddenly burst out in front of me and sliced me clean in two. You might say, he bisected me. I was quite surprised. After he'd cleaned and inspected his blade, which I'm sure met his approval, he went on his way. I took a quick look around and stepped out of my body. I looked down at the husk lying motionless on the (now-very-damp) sidewalk and said, "Huh." Then two butterflies fluttered by, one with a black right wing and a white left wing, and one with a black left wing and white right wing. They were leaving a trail of powder.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Sep 26 2007 - 9:14am Jan 26 2008 - 9:14am Unofficially, this years blanket drive has begun. The project formerly known as EGYHOP, now known as Done & Done, is depressingly low on supplies. We need more of them, and this is the first time this season that we have done a call out. Where we stand now, both monetarily and regarding supplies, we are not going to make it through the winter and we need community support. Done and Done is a 501 C3 non profit that does street outreach seven nights a week, 365 days a year. We are entirely volunteer operated, and depend heavily on support from this town. Every night of the week you are likely to spot us in downtown, with loaded bike carts, handing out emergency supplies to folks that need them. Many people depend on our continued existence, and we are the only resource available in town after all the other agencies and organizations have closed their doors. We are in extreme need of: we are always in need of: Every year our winter supplies get exhausted, and this year we have even less of a surplus than we have before. If you have extras of any of these items please consider donating them to Done & Done. There are many people out there that depend on these supplies for their survival and comfort during the harsh winter months.

Well, the pro-lifers have descended upon the bastion of freedom, Planned Parenthood. According to their website, they will be there non-stop for the next 40 days. We'll see if they have the resolve to follow through with that, I'll be checking on them late at night.
» There are many ideas for responses floating around in the ether and I like all of them. My favorites: People should contact Planned Parenthood and ask what kind of help they need during this time. People should also rally for counter protests or outrageous-over-the-top solidarity protests. One other idea I had this morning was launching a phone in to city hall reporting the violation of the Pedestrian Interference Ordinance. These anti-freedom radicals are putting chairs in the six foot zone of the sidewalk, and with the narrow sidewalks in that portion of town, they blatantly violating the law. This is the city's chance to prove to us that they didn't just pass it to target our houseless neighbors. |
