Now THAT'S a Bunker. A Brick House. Utilitarian. I like to think filled with guns and ammo and canned goods waiting for the inevitable apocalypse... But I digress... I only really wanted to talk about the stock market crash.

We went to see this last week. Usually, I go home from the theater thinking about how big a difference there was for me between one or two actors that I thought were really good, and the rest, who were just OK. I thought this show was very well acted across the board - really classy performance by all four of the cast. At different moments, Endgame itself is funny, minimalist, boring, wittily self-referential, repetitive, harrowing... After 50 years, its black humor and its post-apocalyptic setting have been frequently borrowed and revised, and I think in consequence the play's probably lost some of the intensity and power that it had for its original audiences. The chairs in the Midnight Sun are hard too - you might want to take a little cushion! But if you want to see Beckett very well done, I'd recommend it. 8 PM; October 23, 24, and 25; the Midnight Sun; tickets $12 at the door or through buyolympia.com. This should really be posted as an event, but something's gone AWOL in my relations with the blog software, so that doesn't work right now. Best

Maybe it's new or I've just always had my windows closed around this time of day, but this is the second day this week I've heard a whistle at 5 o'clock.
