This is a federal offense and investigated by the FBI. Lots of info on police misconduct and how the FIB investigates it.
Also Federal law allows for a civil action against officers involved in deprivation of rights under color of law. Putting it simple, you an sue the crap out of the individual officer who violated your rights under color of law.
I would encourage anyone who has had their rights deprived under color of law to contact your local FBI field office and make the appropriate complaints.
Well, I know this is hardly local but it does affect us locally and you might laugh a bit.
I was just out of the shower and getting dressed for work so we're talking PRE-COFFEE. Then I heard part of "the interview" replayed on NPR's "Morning Edition". What follwed was a very casual question/answer session with George and Laura. It was kind of surreal and it just washed over me. Throughout the day, I check various news sites for, well, news. I'm addicted like that. I suspect a few of us in here are, too.
BUT nothing. This story had some many ways to go. I'm sure it'll show up on late-night talk etc.
So here's a brief portion of the interview:
CURRY: Some Americans believe that they feel they’re carrying the burden because of this economy.
G. BUSH: Yeah, well…
CURRY: They say we’re suffering because of this.
G. BUSH: … I don’t agree with that.
CURRY: You don’t agree with that? It has nothing do with the economy, the war — spending on the war?
G. BUSH: I don’t think so.
I think actually the spending in the war might help with jobs.
CURRY: Oh, yeah?
G. BUSH: Yeah, because we’re buying equipment, and people are working.
I think this economy is down because we built too many houses and the economy’s adjusting.
Anyhoo... ya gotta really hear it or see it. Bush laughs at some strange moments and it's just weird.

I would propose finding a way to identify these miscreant officers and hold the OPD accountable for these illegal and unjust actions. If true. How do we do this?

I have a stack o' books I need off the boat, some fiction, some non fiction. Fiction is mainly Louis L'Amour, Terry Pratchett and Clive Cussler. Non fiction may have some boat stuff, Alaska stuff, assorted historical or politcal subjects and one book on accurizing rifles for bench rest shooting. If anyone is interested in any of this stuff to take or offer up books in trade, let me know and I'll post the titles and condition.
So I’m outside yesterday firing up the tractor to load some firewood and take care of a few odds and end chores, and Luna our Anatolian Shepherd is absolutely coming unglued at some ‘mystery’ way down the road that I can’t see or even hear. And by unglued, she is full focused and ridge backed, not a bark, growl, snarl or sound, just dead stare that tells you there is what SHE thinks is serious danger approaching or close enough for her to pay 100% attention to.
Last week, the Olympian notified us that due to a redesign of their TV Week and Living Sections, they would no longer be able to run the TCTV program schedules. You can visit our website to access our current schedule, as well as download printable version for each week.
We have been working for several months on getting TCTV's channels included in online channel guides, as well as the on-screen navigator, and we are slowly making progress on that front.
(I posted this on an Evergreen listserve first, so it is directed to the Evergreen community primarily. It is a soft cry for solidarity and to focus our attention on productive dialogue to prevent more violence between the students and police. Thanks for the responses to my previous posts, they have been thoughtful, I really like OLYBLOG.)
