Say what you want about Ralph Nader, he's still going to fight for your rights.

..I'm off to bed, but I just wanted to say a few things before today is over:

I appreciate being here with you all even if we don't always agree, and I hopefully have not brought a frown to anybody this day.

I want to thank Rick, the docents, posters, readers, & lurkers...and also wanna thank Cosmo & the Zhonka posse for helping to let it happen at so many WiFi cafes in town, and for keeping the lights on in the OlyBlog server.

Good-night OlyBlog, get some rest & sleep well,

~ c'ya tomorrow.

I just unpublished my last thread, the one about being nice. While I do in a way agree with the nut of it, I was wrong in how I expressed it.

I apologize for saying that others don't care about OlyBlog. That was a insensitive and inaccurate thing to say. There are many people who contribute to this blog, and many different ways of contributing. I still believe there are a handful of people that should check themselves, but I know that needs to start with me.

I unpublished the thread because I feel it was a lot of negative energy that needed to go away, not because I wanted to silence anyone's voice. Most everything said in criticism of my post was right on, in my opinion.

I am not a robot, and I frog things up sometimes. Can't we all just get along?

It's confusing the heck out of me.  And while we're at it then, can I change mine too?  (Kidding)  Seems to be something of an identity crisis of late....  :-p

Padded Lampposts tested in London....

People who have been injured while walking and texting on their cell phones may be in luck.

A London street is experimenting with padded lampposts to protect those not paying attention from banging into them, ITN reports.

A study conducted by 118 118, a phone directory service, found that one in 10 people has been hurt while focusing on their cell phone instead of where they were walking, ITN reports.

I remember when the arson at UW happened, but did not know that one of the folks arrested had committed suicide:

"The other...alleged participants in the UW fire were William Rodgers, who committed suicide soon after his arrest,..." -from online

I do not celebrate the loss of this human being, and it is upsetting to see how much the system we live in contributes to pressure folks into radical positions, possibly including suicide.

I know that I have felt very mad and very depressed about ecological issues, and the flagrant disregard that lot of folks show to people that are sensitive to ecological issues continues to be hurtful to me...

I'm sure that many factors contributed to William Rodgers taking his life, but I wonder to what extent intolerance and environmental injustice in our society "primed the pump" that led to his demise.

William, I did not know you but you are missed.

I certainly hope that others here on OlyBlog can extend the same compassion, and perhaps listen to the meaning of this death when confronted with challenges in our own lives
