We need all of you to keep the pressure on! Please attend!

Even if the port of Olympia terminates support for the Logistics Center, the Port of Tacoma as discussed selling to private investors that they can better control to still develop it!

Tell the County Commissioners "no" to the SSLC and "yes" to the rezone.

Weds. March 26th at 6:00 pm at the Expo Center at the Thurston County fairgrounds

THANKS!

Commentary:

Citizens of Olympia woke up this morning to find that our state captiol building has been vandalized. Some one or some group of vandals spray painted anti-war slogans and the symbol for anarchists on some pillars.

With a typically callous disregard for our state, and the people who live here, they chose to vandalize public property to try to get a message across. The message comes after the milestone of four thousand U.S. casualties in the War On Terror began. A slightly longer news story can be found here.

I'm going to get on my soapbox here.

I'm tired of the graffiti. I'm tired of our town being plastered with it. Free walls are just fine and dandy, in fact some are really beautiful. It's the garbage on my neighborhood stop signs, street signs, power utility boxes, local mini-mart, bus stops, and now this crap. Whip out a can of $2.50 Krylon and cause a $1000 worth of damage.

No intellectual discussion here, no sir-ree. Just a rant.

I caught the buzz on a recent purchase the Starbuck's company made, and reflected that my local cafe of choice is "way ahead of the curve" when it comes to taste, service, and darn good espresso.

While I don't drink coffee, I do drink espresso, so when I saw an announcement online I tracked the links down, wondering if all good start-ups are just looking to get "owned"?

We enjoy Alpine hiking and I thought I would post a few pics from our hike last year on the Skyline trail.

We missed the peak of the mountain flower bloom (approx mid July) by about 3 weeks. But it was a beautiful hike never the less. The Skyline trail leaves right from the Paradise parking lot and loops around and back to the starting point. It's a pretty good climb, with a elevation change of 4200 feet in about 7 miles, 2100 feet up and 2100 feet back down. If you walk the trail in a clockwise direction you get the steep part going up. The decent in this direction is spread out over about 2/3 of the total distance. So if you want an easier climb, do it counterclockwise.

We took about 80 pictures, but here are a few I thought you all might enjoy.

Read a review of this hike here.

Capital warming upOLYMPIA, Wash. -- The Olympia Bears boys soccer team (6-1) beat the Capital Cougars 2-1 Monday night in a Narrows League game featuring two of the league's top teams.

Capital (3-3) scored their lone goal from 6 yards out during injury time in the first half. Not to be outdone, Olympia's balanced midfield game was the difference in the second half resulting in two easy head-ball goals. The second goal slid by the Cougar keeper on the near post after a corner kick. The near post defender was nowhere to be found.
