Now I've pretty well established I wear my handgun visible most of the time. However the weight of the gun on my hip (visible or concealed) gives a nerve in my leg some grief. I'm thinking about switching to a shoulder holster, so I rigged this up tonight. Just wondering if some think this would be more "surprising" than seeing the same gun on my hip. I like it too because it keeps both of my hands away from my weapon on the odd chance of a LEO encounter, and also lessens the likelhood that someone seeing me just with my hands at my side will think I'm going for my gun. I'm not going to stop OCing, but I think this may be more comfortable both for myself and some of the public as a whole. Thoughts? Thanks! (Not a very good pic, I apologize, I don't take good self portraits!) :-)

What is in military surplus leather dubbing? I've looked online and can't find much, using the terms "leather dubbing" and various modifiers such as "USGI" "Surplus" "GI Surplus" "US Military" etc... I bought two rather old looking 4 ounce cans of the stuff, olive drab metal cans marked "Dubbing" with instructions for use, as well as a warning that "This is a terneplate container. Not to be used as a food container." I found out terneplate is a 3 or 4 to 1 alloy of lead and tin, used as a protective coating on steel and iron. The lead doesn't bother me. I'm curious though as to what goes in the dubbing compound itself. Seems to be pretty good stuff, I just finished dubbing the leather sling attachments on my WWII soviet rifle, and they seemed to appreciate the treatment. I'm thinking there might be something like lanolin in this, as my hands are pretty soft after using it. Can't find a formula online, or even much about it. At $1 per can, I should get a few more just for grins. Thanks!

I'm relatively new to town and have seen a good deal of graffiti and heard and read alot about the different approaches locals take on that issue. So, my question is, what is the right response in that situation: • Should I take offense, be angry that someone smeared stuff on my window, that I now need to clean-up? • Is it art and I should feel honored that someone choose my store window for their self-expression? What I did learn is that being angry and upset is usally seen as a lack of character and open-mindedness, since the place I pour my heart and money into supposally doesn't belong to me but to the people with markers and spray-cans. So, enlighten me, invite me into your worldview. Perhaps I can learn something or even better, perhaps I could get to know the person responsible for it, so I could buy him a cup of coffee.

What with fuel prices reaching higher altitudes, Boeing has become a fan of the Algal Biomass Organization. Hmmm, where could someone get thier hands on a seemingly endless supply of algae...
