I am a big fan of the state constitution, it is one of the better written state constitutions, and provides protections of rights higher and beyond the federal document.  I think any responsible person should be aware of this document, and how it is written.  Take the time to read Article I below, and consider what a great state this is to live.  I am not aware of many states for instance that have a rights of crime vicitims written into the constitution.  The full document may be viewed here.

I try to be as open minded about a person's individual choices as I can. I won't pretend that some bug me more than others, because some do, but I try to live a "hey if it's legal, and/or not causing harm to other folks what the heck" life.

Women with serious facial hair is one of those things that bug me. Not just a little hormone driven 'stache but full blown beards, moustaches, or long scraggly facial hair. Noticeable stubble does it too. I have a beard, and go several days between shaves usually, so when I see a woman with either longer stubble than me, or (and I have seen this once) a better beard than me, I get a little weirded out.

Now I want to deep inside my depraved little open minded gun toting heart I tell myself things like "self determination" or "hey, if it is growing, who cares, it's natural right?" Or I ponder if this person is having a sex change operation (another thing I can't understand, but hey if you are an adult, whatever) or is just not wound too tight, or just doesn't give a rip.

It's just one of those things, women as far as I know generally were not built to grow long scraggly whiskers or full blown beards and moustaches.

I expect some sexist flames here. Fine. I can handle a flame war right now. Not what I'm looking for though.

Women especially please, tell me what you think of this?

I wear a goatee and keep it short. Should I be shocked at seeing women with longer whiskers or beards than I have?

This is not hyper-local, but it is hyper-relevant to media issues and the problems posed by corporate media, corporate media consolidation, free-press, media hi-jacking of government, and related issues. Watch this video and experience the extraordinary and remarkable eloquence of Mr. Bill Moyers:
from youtube.com: Legendary journalist Bill Moyers address the National Conference for Media Reform in Minneapolis, June 7, 2008. Presented by FreePress.net. For more speakers, press coverage, and info, visit: www.freepress.net/conference

Quote from the video: "Sadly, in many respects, the fourth estate has become the fifth column of democracy, colluding with the powers that be in a culture of deception that subverts the thing most necessary to freedom, and that is the truth." – Bill Moyers

Are you satisfied with the current state of affairs in the USA? If so, you need to read no further. Contrarily, do you think this country (and the world) could benefit from some substantial changes? Do you think that things could be better? Do you want an alternative to the status quo of what is, for example [in my words], gunpoint venture capitalism [in Iraq]?

It's an exciting year in electoral politics. There are several candidates for Congress whom are similarly interested in presenting alternatives to foreign policies of violent and militaristic global dominance. There is a better way! And you can do something about it; you can do your part to promote change. There's a better way; instead of deception, intimidation, and the conquest of overseas resources, let's think about and move toward policies that are based in cooperative efforts, communication, truth and mutually beneficial outcomes.

Tomorrow at SPSCC, Cindy Sheehan, Candidate for the US Congress, along with a host of other speakers to include WA State 6th Congressional District Candidate for the Green Party, Gary Murrell, and Washington for Impeachment director Linda Boyd.

The Minneart Center for the Arts, Program at 7 PM, doors will open at 6 PM. link to map of location [SPSCC]
Recommended donation $10-$25, student tickets available for $5.

On the eve of Father's day, Orion and I went out to Rusty Cock Ridge to pick up our photos from mother's day.

It was a quiet afternoon.  We had Carolee all to ourselves for the better part of 3 hours.  Orion had her for 47 minutes of it while I performed post-emergency clown counseling on the cell phone.

How well do you know Olympia? Here's the game: Each Saturday I post a picture from somewhere around Olympia and people try to figure out its location. The first person who gets it correct is the first person who correctly got the location *yay!*.

Well, he was 3 weeks early and he came out in a hurry. He's beautiful and I am starting to cry as I type. I think we might name him Jude.

He was born this morning...12:09. Yes. Yes. Yes.
