This year, we are gonna take a little ride down the rabbit-hole-

-hopefully we can all learn together just where the line is (between reality & fiction).

So many folks on this blog cite paranoia or lack of info when talk about the GOV or MIL topics come up, so here is the start of a tour:

GlobalSecurity.org (no link)

Janes.com (no link)

CIA Factbook (no link)

We live in a Federal Republic, enjoy =)

For extra points:

How & where did the Predator program start?

What is Boeing SeaLaunch?

Where are UCAVs being tasked right now?

OK, sure is quiet in here...

...I guess most folks are not into reading trade sites, but that is where that real dope is when it comes to real life, so here are a few more snaps...

For me it all started long ago when I was working for IBM installing Point-of-Sales(POS) systems and Universal Bar Code/Price Code technology (UPC), and then got into big time computer sales...

...all of which ended when I stopped working for defense industry contractors like Intel and Northrop Grumman/Logicon.

From McGraw-Hill:

Aviation Week

and from that site, DTI

There is alot going on, all over-

I wanna get the best bike I can-

-I'm looking for a compact steel or aluminum frame , with a sloped top-tube (size is around 19"-20" or 58cm+).

I'm looking for suggestions on brakes: hydraulic disc or Shimano XTR V-Brake (rim style brakes).

I'm gonna go with 26" wheels unless there is a good reason to go with 29"s~

Any tips or suggestions out there?

I'm buying a 2009 Kona UTE for shopping, but looking for tips on a good cross-terrain hardtail, which I plan to equip with front shocks w/ lockout (suspension tips welcome).

-any thoughts? any local options?

There have been postings in the past about crazy, right-wing radicals doing goofy things on film.

I was crying because I was laughing so hard. Some of the comments are pretty funny, too. Said one person:

Thought they were about to start Goose Stepping at the end.

Here's the video:

Thought I would pass along some views provided by the state on the new heritage building at the Capitol Campus. This new building will dramatically change the view of the hillside from Heritage Park, and will remove most of the tree-scape along the east hillside according to the pictures.

As we talk about the vision of this area by the original architects, I wonder where this building fits?

I've heard that it is to be designed LEED, but I don't think they've made any definite promises.

Total cost is about $141 million for the new 'Heritage Center' which will be a very big improvement from the existing building-- in aesthetics and design.

I have been cycling for 2 years. In that time I have seen a dramatic change in driver attitude. A small number of drivers seem to have gotten snottier and more belligerent. Does this coincide with the rise in gas prices? Possibly. Yet the supposition "Gas is more expensive, I need to drive faster!" is directly counter to reality. If you drive slower and smoother you will go farther on a tank of gas.
Also I have noticed more people on bikes this year than last. Likely for reasons of gas price. Probably also fouling the mood of the traffic loudmouth.

Today a woman pulled up next to me in a right hand turn lane ( I was in the left). She attempted to lecture me on how bikes do not belong on the road, laden with a stream of profanity.

Cyclists, of course, turn left in the left turn lane, and follow the same rules as motor vehicles in traffic. Shockingly, they ride on the road. Evidently this the best way to go places.

Then again, the majority of drivers already know this.
Those who don't will have a lousy future as gas prices continue to rise and more people take up cycling.

The other comment from the driver, "Drive a car like an adult" is a common refrain of the uneducated. Another form of this is, "Bikes is for kids! [sic]" which I enjoyed with a friend a few months ago.
Yes, more cars on the road; they demand more cars on the road... to ease congestion.

I am not sure what people hope to gain shouting insults at cyclists anyway. A person riding a bike on the road is not properly classed as a timid person. The chance of discouraging them with half-witted scorn is pretty low.

Actually I find it amusing, but I have an oblique sense of humor and a low view of humanity; so I will defer to H.G. Wells who said, "When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race."

The Nader Campaign is closing down on the $3 Million mark. This is impressive given the lack of media attention. In fact, the establishment mainstream corporate media has completely ignored - completely left out - the Nader campaign. It's a disservice to the American people.

But the $3M shows that regular Americans like you and me do care, and do want something different. Americans deserve a real choice on corporate and foreign policies...

Restoring salmon runs should be priority #1 in the PacNW (and the world)-

- to let this panacea wither away would is a tragic loss.

If electromagnetic spectrum is considered a national resource, then why not salmon?
