As heard on Opium:

"artisan's cafe is closing their doors to the public after may 15th, because of some problems with some landlords. they are expected to reopen in another space sometime, but who knows when that'll be!"

Can anyone confirm this?

I was in Artisans only once,

I was in Artisans only once, but have a fond memory of it. Norm, enpen, Sarah and I met there last year. enpen then led us on a tour of Oly's spray paint gallery through the alleys.  A nice OlyBlog evening I'll always remember. Sorry to hear Artisans is going away.

Too bad

I hope they are able to find another place soon. That was a good little get-together. Good coffee, good conversation, good walk/art show.

:-(

I was really starting to like that place.  Good thing I get paid on the 14th, I need to get another sandwich and some cake...

Yes, confirmed

The staff at Artisan's confirmed today that they are closing, but are looking for a new site in downtown.

A lot of businesses have

A lot of businesses have come and gone in that space. I wonder who owns the building?

Artisans Moving

Apparently, the operators of Artisans want to move into the space next to Jake's on 4th Avenue.

The reason I was given is that the landlord wants to use the space for something else, and has decided not to renew the month-to-month lease. According to the Artisans employee I asked, the new use is a "café."

Stay-tuned. Artisans is collecting email addresses in order to keep interested people informed of the progress of the move.

that space next to jake's

is gigantic inside. seems strange to me that they struggled to keep their current (past, i guess) location open and they'd want to expand so much.
