Capital warming upOLYMPIA, Wash. -- The Olympia Bears boys soccer team (6-1) beat the Capital Cougars 2-1 Monday night in a Narrows League game featuring two of the league's top teams.

Capital (3-3) scored their lone goal from 6 yards out during injury time in the first half. Not to be outdone, Olympia's balanced midfield game was the difference in the second half resulting in two easy head-ball goals. The second goal slid by the Cougar keeper on the near post after a corner kick. The near post defender was nowhere to be found.

Olympia in a set playOlympia's players, several who played on last year's state team [HTML], outplayed Capital in the ever so important hustle category. While Capital showed flashes of team play they were able to sustain little against a tough Bears backline.

Next Games: Capital travels to Yelm this Thursday (6:00pm) and Olympia is on the road at North Kitsap Friday (7:00pm).

Goals: Capital - #4 Tri Nguyen; Olympia - #6 Joel Nightengale, #3 Ben Ritter

great coverage

I wanted to go to this game, but don't think I'll have time to take in any spring soccer this time around. Do you know if they play any regional tournament games in Oly, or do they have to travel for those?

I'm not 100% sure.  Let me

I'm not 100% sure.  Let me check with John Hayes, the head coach at Timberline.

If you can find time to catch one game this year, pencil this one in -- Timberline at Capital (@ Ingersoll) Tuesday, May 6th, 7:00pm.  If you are interested in coaching I'll introduce you to John before the game.

And, thank you.
