From Wikipedia

Letter from Inside the Black Bloc

Black Bloc FAQ's

The Black Bloc and Anarchism

Infoshop.org Black Blocs for Dummies

Black Bloc Tactics Communique

Interesting, and sometimes disturbing stuff here. Perhaps we should count ourselves lucky that only a few windows were broken...

Most of these pages are pretty pro black bloc. I had a hard time finding pages about resisting, infiltrating, or eliminating black blocs.

Well I had a great time on the ride along. I got downtown around 11:30 and checked in at the front desk. Sergeant Wojtech drove me up to the Westside station. We had a nice chat, and I wish I had heard more of his stories about aiding in the evacuation of Mount St. Helens when it erupted. Spent a couple of hours riding around with JT in his car. For the inquiring minds, Sergeant Wojtech doesn't own an iPod, and JT likes classic rock and modern country on his.

Got to see a couple of calls responded to. As one involved a minor, and another was a routine complaint, but involving a no contact order I won't delve into any details. Heard some interesting stuff come over the radio as well.

I owe Pete Bohmer an apology.  I didn't realize the thread I was commenting on last night was actually written by him.  I would not have made the level of harsh, even attacking statements I did if I had been paying more attention.

I stand by my anger with what he said  now, and in the past, but I apologize for attacking him directly on one of his posts.  It was uncalled for, and I should have (1) paid better attention to who iniated the thread and (2) held my tongue better.

Sorry.

Probably going to lurk and keep in touch with a few people here, but for the most part I'm done.  I'm sure a few will breathe a sigh of relief, but I don't think I can add anything to Olyblog.

For those I've pissed off with strong convictions and ideals.  I'm sorry.  My strong convictions and ideals run contrary to your strong ideals and convictions.  It was a fun ride, and I made a few friends and met some cool people, but it's time to get off the train.

For those I've enlightened or shared with, thanks for the fun.  6 months, three divisive events in Olympia, and I'm on the liberal progressive board with my not so liberal views....

Rick, thanks for putting up with my dumb ass, you have a nice place and I wish you the best, I'm probably not the best person to be a regular on OB anymore.  If you are near Tugboat Annie's sometime I think I offered you a beer onetime.

Enpen, Rob W, I promised you guys beers too., PM me if you want to take me up on it.  You guys are more I can't see eye to eye with at times, but reasonable and articulate about your beliefs which I appreciate.

Rob R, I think you and I won't see eye to eye on most things, and have pissed each other off a few times.  Good luck with B&R.

Emmett, thanks for popping by my webpage and your encouragement.

I may attend and speak my opinion.

Irregardless of your views on recent events, I think it is the civic duty of any person who can make it to show up and testify your opinon.

If you can't make it, please contact the council. Public input will be very important in the near future.

What?  You're not going?  (FUN cat pics)

Chia, in between mouthfulls of rabbit food spoke elsewhere...  "I stuff my veggie sandwiches with a good handful of spinach or other greens. Salads, sometimes, but I'm more a sandwich plus fresh fruit person."

Good call.  I'm not much of a sandwich person right now.  Part of my problem is I don't want to put a fridge on the boat.  Too bulky and uses too much energy, and I'm too dang lazy to use my icebox more than a day or two.  I'm stuck buying potatos and onions, with greens a bit at a time as I uses them.  I found a nice clumping of miner's lettuce the other day.  I think I'm more likely to get my veggies browsing style right now.

I love fresh fruit, and need to stop by the farmer's market again soon.

One of the first things I did when I bought my boat in November of '06 was discover the farmer's market.  I would pop up there in the morning and get two giant apples and a big cup of Earl Grey tea.  Nothing beats cold november apples :-)

I saw some West Bend waterless cookware demonstrated, and was amazed at how flavorful and tasty the veggies were cooked that way.  I discovered a whole new world of yams that way.  They are actually pretty dang good after all.

I may get a West Bend skillet, but dang are those pricey!

I just learned today that the TCFB has had a 38% increase in their client caseload and a 40% DROP in donations. I would encourage anyone who can to give money or food to the foodbank. They are a very important resource and right now we as a community cannot allow them to fail in their critical mission.

I know there is a drop bin at Bayview Thriftway, I do not know of any other donation sites in Oly. (Honestly I haven't looked, I walk right by Bayview everyday so give there or at the Food Bank proper)

I would imagine the things most needed are protiens, and quality healthy foods. Vegetarian/vegan options are probably often overlooked as well.

Maybe if everyone were to buy just one extra can or box of something that would serve as the center point of a healthy meal each time they went shopping... or cut back on one latte, or whatnot. I'm doing what I can.

Okay, I've heard informed and passionate arguments on why Olympia should harbor military deserters.  A bit of rhetoric, but that seems ok in small doses.  I'm going to use a bit here myself.

Illegal aliens are by definition, in this country illegally.  They work at various jobs, and some industries seem built to depend on a certain percentage of illegal aliens.  Now I am of the "round 'em all up and deport them" school of thought.  They are here tresspassing and show no interest in assimilating into our culture.  Just witness the invaders  undocumented immigrants marching down streets waving Mexican flags and carrying signs in Spanish.  These do not seem like people who wish to be part of our culture, yet seem to be more than willing to take advantage of our institutions.

For every illegal alien working here, that is one less job a US Citizen or documented worker could be doing.  A lot of capital flows out of this country into other countries, a good bit of it from illegal aliens.  Hospitals and other social services are often crowded by people who have no legal right to be in this country.

I spent two years in San Diego and have heard lots of arguments, and seen lots of numbers.  It still ticks me off.

I find this an interesting notion.  Let's not touch the illegal alien aspect, although I think someone in this country illegally should not be given it's protections or opportunities.  That is an argument nobody is going to win anytime soon.

It is the notion of "sanctuary" for military deserters that bugs me.

Last time I checked, the US Military is 100% volunteer.  That means a soldier enlists by his or her own free will.  Someone who enlists of their own free will and later abandons their post for whatever notion of "illegal war" or whatnot should not be given any protection.  If there was a draft on, I might feel different, but when a consenting adult signs a piece of paper, especially in this day and age, they should not be protected if they desert.

If someone enlisted before the war, they took the risk that they may be called to duty in wartime.  If they enlist now, they know full well what is going on.

Can someone tell me why volunteers should be protected if they desert.
