If you don't have anything better to do, come join us in to watch the battle of North America played out on the soccer pitch. We'll be down at Charlie's Tavern (620 4th Ave, across from the old Safeway) watching the United States and Mexico play a friendly on the t.v. Starts at 6p.

And, for everyone that is used to football games that last more than four hours, your typical soccer game lasts only about two (including halftime). FYI.

I was on my way and the the

I was on my way and the the thought of watching it put me to sleep and I wrecked my car. Fires were started throughout town due to the leaking gasoline, as the fire engines were pulling out of the station the dispatcher told them I was on my way to watch soccer...The firemen then thought of watching it as well and drove into Budd Inlet while sleeping. This is where it gets really interesting, while the Coast Guard was fishing them out of the bay an AWACS was called in to coordinate the rescue effort. Upon notification that they were on the way to put out fires caused by thinking about soccer the navigator fell asleep and the aircraft eneded up over Olympia, Greece. The Greeks, not wanting foreigners in there airspace fired upon the American aircraft, you can guess what happened next, it wasn't pretty. The carrier Enterprise was on station in the Med and did the only thing that could be expected when a US aircraft is being fired upon, they launched massive counter attacks against all greek military targets and government buildings. With Greece effectively crippled and both Olympia's in flames the issue was finally sorted out. However they did have to bring in the Mexican consulate to act in good faith as the American represenative at the table because they could not find an American that could stay awake while thinking about Soccer.

ROTFL!!

To make things worse I was cleaning and reloading my handgun when I read this post and started thinking about soccer.  Anyone want a sailboat with a few 9mm holes in the bottom?  :-p

Solid proof

One should not talk on the phone, drink Sam Adams and post on Olyblog at the same time while also eating a cheeseburger.  :-)

This is really rude.

You guys don't enjoy soccer? That's fine. You don't have to make fun of people who do.

Something bugging you?

I don't think you've laughed at any attempt at humor this evening from anyone.  There is a huge difference between light hearted humor and plain nastiness and I would think this is humor...

No, this is hijacking someone's thread.

When humor is degrading and mean, it's not cool.

I saw it was a draw

I saw it was a draw yesterday during lunch (on ESPN's BottomLine) and caught the second half on replay this morning.

Was it only a Friendly or a CONCACAF qualifying match?

»

Only a friendly (But there are no friendlies)

The US and Mexico will enter the CONCACAF qualifying fray later this summer after countries like Belize and Dominica sort things out. I think the US's first qualifying match will be in June against either Dominica or Barbados.

I did watch a qualifying match earlier in the day on the web, Belize beat St. Kitts 3-1. St. Kitts looked way better than the score indicated, but they had a crappy goalie.

For the record, I don't mind people like wilson much, they prefer grid iron football because the constant breaks in the action give them time to organize and knit their doilies.

Doilies are for rookies, I have moved to knit socks.
