YOU are invited to join others in a Community Dialogue.

Wednesday, Sept. 3rd, 7:30 - 9 pm
Traditions Fair Trade & Cafe'
5th & Water St.

Protesting war equipment at our port? Tall condos for rich people? Olympia as a nuclear-free zone? Improving downtown - but how? Traffic conditions(bikes & cars)

Our community needs to discuss a number of controversial issues, and every person has values, experiences and perspectives worth sharing. Solving our community concerns needs everyone's voice - including YOURS!

We are starting to create community dialogue opportunities. Help provide a format in which we speak to be heard, and learn to listen as others do the same.

Refreshments provided.

We've been discussing:

How to turn swords into ploughshares and come together as a community, get to know each other, look each other in the face and work toward a common future for Olympia.

Who is sponsoring ...?

When I first read this, my immediate question was which group or individual(s) is organizing this event and why is that information not provided in the announcement. Then I found the exact same announcement on a local listserve which concluded with this statement: "Terry Zander has organized this to serve the community."

Just seems worth mentioning for those who, like me, were wondering.

Community Dialogue

Heavens knows that we can all benefit from dialogue, and understanding.

Thanks to Tezzer1 for putting this on. I am curious to know whether this will be the opening chapter in a longer, deeper, richer dialogue about community issues - issues which affect us all.

90 minutes might be adequate time for familiarizing participants with the basic dialogue format, for opening the dialogue, and to set up a next meeting time. Needless to say I am interested!

Community Dialogue

I just found this description of the upcoming Community Dialogue in an email, so I want to pass it along (with some editing for purposes of clarity) here:
Everybody is invited to the informal meeting that Terry Zander will informally facilitate at 7:30 at Traditions about how our community can discuss controversial issues (e.g., tall buildings, military supplies in the port, nuclear free zones, etc.). Terry’s meeting seeks to help us explore HOW to hold such conversations. He wants a great diversity of people to come.
