What ideas would folks like to contribute for a community garden at Madison Scenic Park?

great idea!

I can't believe that I have never seen this park! We live on the other side of 4th avenue in the NE neighorhood and haven't ventured over there yet. I will make sure to make that our next Saturday walk destination and come up with some fabulous ideas. A kids garden is always a great place - textures, tastes, secret hidden spaces....

I live on 8th between Boundary and Central

I've spent a lot of time in that park. I think it should be designed with creating a meal in mind. Vegetables, herbs, fruits; enough variety of stuff so that with little else, a full meal could be cooked.

Fruit and nut trees

A few years ago, I was able to get some free fruit trees through a city program. Wouldn't it be nice to plant some young apple, pear, and hazelnut trees now, and return in 20 years to see them bearing? Cherry and plum trees might also be nice; the blossoms are so beautiful.

Second the fruit and nut idea

IIRC there is a pear tree outside the library already.

I think some walnut trees would be cool.
