Hi Paul...

...my name is Rick, and I've taught at Evergreen for getting on 10 years now. My experience of the college doesn't fit with your description. Perhaps you meant to say that one faculty has been investigated for dodgy accounting practices (at least, that's what I got from the report). Perhaps you have more information than that contained in the report. If that is the case, I'd sure like to hear about.

You also forgot to mention that Evergreen is an innovative institution that has consistently received national attention for the quality education it offers students, and that it has enriched the local community in ways to numerous to count.

Beware the terrible simplifiers.

Ethics

Why is it that when I show a photograph of a police officer who used to blog here, that is unfair... but you get to call this anonymous user out by their 'real' name rather than their handle? Is it because you own the place, or is it because you disagree with the post, or is it both?

In all fairness,

the guy does have his name on his profile.

"Rampant with Ethics Violations"

"Evergreen is rampant with ethics violations."
If what you say is true, then there are some serious problems. However, it is doubtful that the facts on the ground substantiate your pronouncement.

There might very well be some problems with the way Evergreen operates, but rampant violations of an ethical nature? Really.

Evergreen is a very valuable institution. Evergreen maintains an open-minded, tolerant, inclusive, and progressive approach to higher education. Evergreen provides tremendous opportunities for both residents of Washington State, and all the people of the world.

Finally, I am confused about what you're asking for here. You say that Evergreen's internal auditor is more than qualified to perform audits. So what's the problem? And finally, why hasn't the Board of Trustees met with the internal auditor? Is it true that this is a requirement, and that this hasn't been fulfilled?

I don't question whether there are some problems at Evergreen. But, there are problems everywhere. The problems are related to the structure of our system. Our system pits people against each other. Our culture is destructive and oppressive. It's sickening. Literally.

Evergreen is great because it provides a wonderful space for free and open exploration, examination and the asking of hard questions about the fundamental problems that exist in our socio-cultural system.

TESC should be free instead

TESC should be free instead of exclusive to those who can afford it.
»

no, it should not

People with too much money show up everywhere, such is life, but TESC is a place for inquiry and learning, for all, regardless of income.

I went to TESC "for free" and then paid back the student loan...same with the UW Tacoma. Now, I'm using all that stuff that I learned to make positive changes in my community.

...perhaps making an appointment with a financial aid would be a good step towards attending?
