In 2002 SESAME, Students Educating Students About the Middle East, was created by students returning from Palestine after volunteering with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) and in response the looming threat of war on Iraq. Rachel Corrie's death and the beginning of the occupation of Iraq occurred within days of each other. Since then SESAME has expanded to include solidarity, advocacy, education and action on issues surrounding racism, human rights and foreign policy.

The City of Olympia Waste ReSources program is taking reservations for free 2 hour neighborhood wood chipping events. Times are available on Saturdays Feb 9 - May 24. Turn woody debris into valuable chips for landscaping, mulching, and composting. The City will arrange for a chipper and a two-person crew to come to your neighborhood for two hours of free wood chipping. The resultant chips are left on site for residents to use.
