Found this while surfing around. I can't say that I am surprised, but I hope that she resurfaces soon.
Waris Dirie, a former model turned women's rights campaigner, has gone missing in Brussels, her manager Walter Lutschinger said Friday.
Read the rest here... http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/03/07/belgium.model.ap/index.html (for some reason when I highlight text the insert link function doesn't enable.) UPDATE
She was found hours after police announced they were launching a nationwide search for her. She had last been seen getting into a cab after a mix-up over a hotel in the early hours of Wednesday. Prosecutor's spokeswoman Estelle Arpigny said Dirie was being questioned by police about the disappearance and appeared to be in good health. She declined to give further details, saying it was unclear what had happened since Dirie vanished after leaving a Brussels nightclub.I am very glad she has been found alive. I will be interested to hear the story of what happened.

Nitpicking
Submitted by Jeff Brigham on Sat, 03/08/2008 - 6:08pm.This is great. Now we can start nitpicking everybody's tags. It will help us ignore the subject. Don't cha love progress?

If Islam is the "appropriate" tag
Submitted by Anonymously Larry on Sat, 03/08/2008 - 12:18pm.Then "Christian" should be the appropriate tag for Fred Phelps. Unless you want the removal of Christianity, JT.
Think about it, is Christianity the operative word of Fred Phelps actions?
Appropriate?

Submitted by Jeff Brigham on Sat, 03/08/2008 - 10:49pm.Steven,
I really do not regard this stuff as any "unfinished business" that I have to deal with. It's more of a pot that others have decided to start stirring again. Fine. Please remember that you and others have asked.
Thank you,
Jeff Brigham

I have never posted any photo of that sign on Olyblog. If you have objections to seeing it on Olyblog, contact the people who have posted it. I have nothing to apologize for. I would not suggest waiting for an apology either.
I don't like many opinions that are presented on Olyblog. But as part of the community, I must learn to work around that. So must you, don't you know.

Submitted by Jeff Brigham on Sat, 03/08/2008 - 11:02pm.If my use of that "disclaimer" is so upsetting to you, I will avoid using it in the future. I truly do wish that you would be equally upset when we have docents abusing their authority.
Also, please examine the posts above again. Tschida posts an article and instead of discussion of the article, we have nitpicking about a tag he put on it. I have noticed this on several instances when Tschida posts articles. He could post "The sky is blue and water is wet" and a number of people here would avoid any discussion or conversation and instead immediately nitpick something to attack him on. Let's work on that problem also.
Thank you,
Jeff Brigham

Is the practice that Ms Dirie,
Submitted by JT on Sat, 03/08/2008 - 12:47pm.campaigns against a practice of Islam? Or is the basis more from Somali influence? If it is Islam or a sect of Islam then the tag is appropriate. Perhaps more tags would be better though. If it is more Somali, which is where I thought the practice came from, then Islam might not be the best choice.
Just like if the topic was about male circumcision, perhaps Jewish, Christian, etc. might be appropriate.
Not much about Phelps is Christian, so I don't see the link. Like back to my orginal question, if female genital mutilation, or female circumcision (as it frequently and incorrectly is referred to)is a practice of Islam, reporting it in a tag is not bigotry.
