Seems like a valid statement to me

Unit is going to Iraq.  Troops and equipment getting shipped to (or from) Iraq tend not to go down peacefully around here.

At least you are address problems with me to my face instead of letting me read about them on the docent email list which I appreciate.

Dude, wait for real crap to happen instead of

posting conflict-seeking speculation. Then have at it. We all have trouble enough getting along without conjuring up conflicts that aren't even taking place. As Richard Dreyfus's character in Jaws said, "Wait for it..."

Never saw Jaws.... sorry.

What kind of reaction do you expect from a post that only says a unit is heading to Iraq?   I'll drop it if you guys do then.

The post did leave things pretty wide open

I'll certaninly grant you that. I take back half of what I said. You can pick which words to delete. ;-)

Here is what is left....

No worries 6

the same popped into my head as well...followed closely by, "Ladies and Gentleman, grab your riot gear!".

Never saw Jaws?

But you're Quint!

»

Urgh....

So any guy who lives on a boat and collects guns becomes Quint now :-) I got ahold of a copy and watched some of it, and fail to see the resemblance.

So I have become Quint to the OlyBlog community? Don't know if that suits me or not... :-) Outside of the boat and guns, please elaborate.

I'm laughing... :-)

Quint was tough enough to

Quint was tough enough to make it through the sinking of the USS Indianapolis!
The scene of him describing that is one of my favorite parts of the movie.

I won't claim to be that tough

OTOH men rise to the occassion or not so I have no idea what I would do.  Being 6'9" I don't think I would be on a ship anyhow...

Any guy who lives on a boat

Any guy who lives on a boat and has never seen Jaws is just plain weird, however you did mention at one point that you enjoy a good bacon cheeseburger, so you can't be all that bad

Stereotyping are we?

:-)  I haven't seen Captain Ron either.  Just not a big movie fan.

More Troops...

...Are getting shipped out and we're talking about Captain Ron?

Plus, S6, Troops don't get moved through ports, equipment gets moved through ports. Holding a huge protest preventing troops from moving would be foolish (except with the consent of the troops i guess). However, protesting equipment, as it is the non human element of the war machine, now thats a different story. The issue is with the occupation, not the troops.
