Just heard over the scanner of a plane crash somewhere near the Thurston/Mason County border. They requested some Olympia fire units to assist.

Looks like someone flying from the Shelton Airport had some troubles.

Submitted by Norm on Thu, 07/24/2008 - 4:27pm.It looks like the plane was taking off or landing on Lake Nahwatzel. The crash (judging by the picture) appears to be on the NE side of the lake, which is mostly forest and has no public road access that I'm aware of. I'm not even sure what kind of logging roads are back that way. Firefighters could really have a tough time with this one.
