Just heard over the scanner of a plane crash somewhere near the Thurston/Mason County border. They requested some Olympia fire units to assist.

thanks for letting us know

This is good for any commuters to know especially in case there are traffic back ups. Hope everyone is safe.

Officials with the Mason County Sheriff's Office say a small plane has crashed 10-12 miles west of Shelton, Wash. on Nahwatzel Road. More details to come.

Looks like someone flying from the Shelton Airport had some troubles.

Whoa

I drive that road all the time. Kind of creepy.

Not on the road

It looks like the plane was taking off or landing on Lake Nahwatzel. The crash (judging by the picture) appears to be on the NE side of the lake, which is mostly forest and has no public road access that I'm aware of. I'm not even sure what kind of logging roads are back that way. Firefighters could really have a tough time with this one.
