Yeah, I know I said I wouldn't do this, but it was so much fun! And the subject is rather interesting! And I know we have hippies in Oly... They make the place fun at times.

After having an argument about what hippies are, I started researching them a bit. (Hey, I'm 27 I missed the summer of love by a couple of years, okay?) and found lots of fun hippie facts!

Man, wikipedia knows like EVERYTHING ! Hippies

He's an Old Hippie....

Are you a hippie? Take the Hippie Quiz!

Hippyland!

And the Way of the Hippy

And in all fairness, the Anti-Hippie Action League

This is all just light hearted fun okay? No judgments on what a hippie is or if that is a bad thing. Can you dig it? I had a groovy time researching this and wanted to share man.

I expect my hippie grammar will be critiqued though.

I Was Born In

1965 so the whole hippy (I'm assuming that's the singular of hippies) is before my time!  This was fun reading though!  I'm more of the 70's Disco era and 80's Pop Culture and big hair!

My mom was born in '53, so

My mom was born in '53, so she was the right age for it, and liked some of the music, but was more into rock. She had fun in the 70's and did a lot of um, dancing. Not while pregnant with me of course.

I could be

your pappy.

You could be.

The dude listed on my birth certificate was born in '38, however. He was 40 when I was born.

Oh, and you'd probably have been a better dad than he turned out to be. Of course, it was kind of the "in" thing at the time for kids to be raised without their fathers, so I guess he was just being trendy. None of the cool kids when I was growing had dads that were around.

I'm Not Normal

Bet you had a good laugh at that one!

I was a product of a situation exactly the opposite.  My Mom and Dad divorced when I was 4 and my *DAD* was awarded (like we're trophies or something) custody of my sister and me.  At the time it was nearly unheard of but she just couldn't keep off the stuff - all of it.  My sister was still an infant.

I had an every other weekend relationship with her until I was 13.  She was to pick me up one Friday evening for her weekend and never showed up.  Haven't seen or heard from her since then.  That was 1998.

27? You're a kid! I was

27? You're a kid! I was multiplying by twelve when you were born.

Don't mind me, I'm getting old. My time is coming soon. I've reached the midway point. Twenty years ago I was a Freshman in High School. Excuse me now while I shiver and have an existential meltdown.

Please give me a second grace. Please give me a second face. I've fallen far down, the first time around, now I just sit on the ground in your way.

Born in 1951

The San Fransisco scene was OK.  There were some pretty cool concerts at the Fillmore.

I was, am and will always be diggin' on James Brown.

Soul survivors know what I mean.
