Wow, this is damning. Is it true? Did members of the Bush Administration order intelligence agencies to create false reports in order to justify invading Iraq? A lot of people have been saying that's the case (for a long time). Maybe we can get closer to the truth as a result of this Congressional Probe. If it's true, that allegations that Bush Administration officials manipulated intelligence in order to suit their private interests in a war of choice, then it certainly gives support to the local anti-war advocates who have been working so hard, and who have invested so much in protecting our troops from reckless foreign policy and the abuses of the Bush Administration. Hopefully Congress will do what is right based on the finding of this probe, and if justified, take appropriate action to protect American Soldiers from the alleged abuses of members of the Bush Administration. Local Relevance
Submitted by Robert Whitlock on Fri, 08/15/2008 - 10:15pm.These are national and international problems. But it is important to notice that, given the inability (or lack of will) of the Congress - and the Fourth Estate - to exercise any sort of practical oversight or accountability in these matters, it may be only on the local level that any sort of accountability or justice / just response may be exercised.
This is a long answer. The short answer is that I think local resistance is the best chance we have to stop aggression committed by OUR federal government.
