Fri Dec 28 “Impeachment Party”
to Connect People and Energize Movement
to Impeach Bush & CheneyYes, it really is possible to impeach Bush and Cheney! Yes, there really is time to do it!
The facts are clear! The public wants to do it!
Let’s connect people, energize the impeachment movement, and have fun doing it!
More than a year of local outreach by the Olympia-based Citizens Movement to Impeach Bush/Cheney has found powerful grassroots determination to impeach Bush and Cheney, so the local movement is throwing an Impeachment Party from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday December 28 at the Woman’s Club, 1002 Washington SE, Olympia.
The four-hour party will feature pizza, seafood, salad, beverages, music, social time, fun, games, information resources, informal discussions, and action opportunities – a very full evening!
Several popular bands will perform, including Citizens Band, Bevy (an all-woman Latin jazz band), and Street Karaoke Project.
State Senator Karen Fraser will discuss why she supported State Sen. Eric Oemig’s SJM 8016 in the 2007 State Legislature, which urged Congress to consider impeachment. A few other persons will speak very briefly.
Attenders will have a variety of opportunities to learn more about impeachment, take some specific positive actions (e.g., send postcards and phone calls to key Congressional contacts), play games (e.g., enter the “impeachment haiku” contest), and explore future activities.
Unlike typical political events, this is not designed to be a fundraiser. Organizers will pass the hat and hope to raise just enough to cover the party’s expenses.
Food, music and activities are planned throughout the four-hour festivity. Organizers invite you to come when you can and leave when you must.
“The Impeachment Party is strictly non-partisan,” said Glen Anderson, one of the organizers. “It’s all about protecting the Constitution and restoring a functioning, lawful democracy. These American values extend throughout the political spectrum.”
