Gary Pruitt, CEO of the McClatchy Company that owns The Olympian, has stepped down. This has sparked considerable speculation across the financial industry that the company is thinking of going private. Many of you may remember that Sam Zell and the Tribune Company did the same thing last year. Check the "Editor & Publisher" article below but please keep in mind that the commentary comes directly from a representative for the company. Anyone who doesn't think that they're positioning themselves to either go private or downsize their operations significantly simply isn't paying attention to the writing on the wall. It's only a matter of time! http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003846810
