My fellow Olympians.

I was at a local tavern the other night, and witnessed a young woman being grabbed by the arm and a verbal exchange between her and the bartender that left her crying and running out the door.

I'm new here, but a scene like that doesn't sit well with me.

After asking around in the following week, I found out that this "BroHo" place has already been a haven for one date rapist a few years ago.

And now it seems to be a no holds barred, drunken free for all on the weekends.

Being in a law enforcement related job, I did some searching...

I found that this is one of "the" taverns in Olympia.

But I will not frequent it again.

One of it's long time employees is proven to be a wife beater and sexual predator.

With a criminal history in NV and WA.

I was under the impression that this was a safe little town.

I suppose there's really no such thing.

I for one, will not set foot inside the Brotherhood until that male bartender is gone.

If anyone needs to know, I can provide a list of court cases and numbers.

Starting with THURSTON COUNTY DISTRICT COURT case # C00580349.

Sniff. Sniff.

Do I smell a vendetta? Are you Doug Richland, or as your profile states, Doug Richfield?
»

Hey, give the guy a break

When you're as inflamed with righteous anger as ol' Doug is, it's easy to forget the little details, like what your last name is. --P

this whole post is bogus..

this whole post is bogus...

This sounds out of character

for the Brotherhood.

Did you talk with the owner about your concerns?  His name is Pit, and my understanding is that he has a pretty low tolerance for this kind of behavior in his bar.

I would suggest providing more case #'s

They are public information and the one you provided seems to result, at least for me, in a "hit/run unattended property". That really doesn't concern me a whole lot in a bartender. As to this behavior, did you notice what the girl was doing prior to the incident? Being in a "law enforcement" related job, you would know that criminals frequently cry a little bit when they are caught. Did you ask the bartender what was up? Call the police?

I would suggest saying what your real problem is.

You're lying about something, Doug. What is it?

For example, *I* think you're lying about both being "new in town" and being in law enforcement. But you could just be lying about being new in town.

If you're "new in town," then how do you know the full name of the bartender who's been "proven" to be a wife beater and sexual predator? How do you know his first & last names? Was it in the court records? If you're "new" in town, you've certainly spent a lot of time obsessing over a local bar and its legal history, haven't you?

One chat with Pit will prove to you, immediately, that not only is the Brotherhood *not* a haven for rapists, as you claim, but that the Broho outright bans convicted sexual felons and people with restraining orders from entering the bar.

Nobody likes a bad liar, Doug. Just come right and say what your problem is, instead of sneaking onto a reputable political blog and using it for cheap gossip-mongering. And do your research.

I'm not trying to be accusatory

but who the hell are you Paul? Your profile says you've been with us for 50 weeks but I don't recall ever reading a post from you until this thread.

Long time listener, first time caller

I lived in Olympia for a long time, still visit quite frequently. The Broho was my living room for a couple of years. I haven't posted here because I live in Seattle now, and figured Oly commentaries were best left to those still in Oly, especially where local politics are concerned. I read this blog frequently to keep up on what's going on around town, though.

I wouldn't have chimed in on this discussion either, except I know the guy's full of it.

Cool

you should chime in more often. We have a handful of bloggers that are confirmed "non-Olympians". Keeping it local is great, but sometimes some branching out is healthy.

Thanks

Forgive me if my schedule prevents from taking you up on it, but it's good to feel welcome. I love me some Olympia though, and y'all are doing a great job.

Welcome to Town!

Where did you come from? Someplace pretty different from Olympia, I'll bet! Whereabouts are you living now? Made any friends yet? Planning to come have coffee with your fellow olybloggers any time soon? Maybe, since you're new in town, it might be a good idea to make some friends, instead of focusing strictly on making brand new enemies.
