I figured I would start out by saying that I'm new to Olympia, I have been a frequent guest of Olyblog since I got here in Feb., I am now hoping to add my own 2 cents to some of the topics discussed here.

Furthermore I am an artist, I just finished a new piece and seeing how the subject matter might be able to relate to several of the users on Olyblog I figured I would post it, just to get peoples thoughts.

Thanks for listening, have a good night.

Welcome to Olyblog OP,

...hope you survive the experience!

A beer for whoever knows what I'm thinking when I say that btw.

Are caimans involved?

When you think of the long and gloomy history of man, you will find more hideous crimes have been committed in the name of obedience than have ever been committed in the name of rebellion. -C.P. Snow

No, but close

...there's N'garai involved. That's a different story than the one I'm thinking of though.

welcome to Oly

and thank you for your art.

second impression

The first thing that stuck with me for awhile is your use of oil derricks for shading. Going back to it then, the dualities in appearances and effects really stands out.

Thanks

It's hard to stop adding and taking away when your working in a digital world, but I think for this piece I had a goal, then after awhile that goal grew into it's self. By the way, Your signature is very fitting for my overall theme.

warm welcome

Thanks for the very warm welcome. Oh and Norm you can send all the Demons you want, I believe I'm up for a good fight!

"Kitty, Alone in the Dark."

"Kitty, Alone in the Dark." is the story with N'garai.

The quote is "Welcome to the X-men Kitty Pryde, Hope You Survive the Experience!" from this issue. It became something of an inside joke whenever a new character joined the X-men. The cover had the new person facing incredible odds, or the other X-men, with that quote attached to the cover. Also, I just learned, this is the first issue where Wolverine was called "Logan". Yes, I'm a nerd.

Nice piece of history

I'm fascinated by the world that comics can create, and am hoping that in the future they will become a staple in my reading life. So far I have only read the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman. Which I very much enjoyed.

Nice

A fellow comic book fan. With good taste as well, Sandman was a great storyline and the use of so many different artists added to it. It truly took the world by storm.

I didn't mention it earlier because I was distracted, but your piece is really quite impressive.

Welcome to the fold :)

Open

I'm always open to new sugestions so feel free. Especially if you know of anything with similar thoughts, ideas, histories as the Sandman..... Thanks for the compliment!

It's been so long

besides picking up comics for kids I haven't really read one in probably 10 years now.

I had that issue when I was

I had that issue when I was little! They must have reprinted it.

Your Art Work

Very political, I like it.

Reminds me of the Jerry Mander book In the Absence of the Sacred. It is a sad story these past 500 years of European expansion into this land.

Books are good

Thanks Robert, I've added your book recommendation to my hold list at the library.
