Hey, Buddies ! What are you all doing on Saturday ?
Well, I know what I hope to do (God Willing !)
1- April 26th - Procession of the Species and then, 2- musical fund-raiser to benefit Handicapped Palestinian Children - Rachel Corrie Center in Rafah, Palestine. (Details below.)

1- Procession of the Species - 45,000 people show up from around for this event - so, pack a picnic basket and be there early. http://www.procession.org/
The Procession of the Species is a joyous, spontaneous artistic pageant where community members celebrate their relationships with each other and with the natural world. It was started in 1995 by a group of Olympia residents to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Earth Day and to support Congressional renewal of the Endangered Species Act.
NOTE - No signs, no written word, no spoken word, only actions, music, animal stuff.
Be sure to bring your camera and lots of tape.

All funds will go to the Rachel Corrie Youth and Cultural Center in Rafah, Palestine. The Center is named for the young woman from Olympia, WA, Rachel Corrie, who was killed by an Israeli bulldozer while trying to prevent the demolition of a Palestinian home in Rafah. She spent several months volunteering in Rafah with the International Solidarity Movement and after her tragic death in March 2003, the Union of Health Work Committees named their children's center after her. The Center is dedicated to building relationships with the isolated children and youth in Rafah and their peers from other countries. The Center provides creative and educational opportunities for the children of Rafah City and Rafah refugee camps. They hold art classes, summer camps, and a variety of after-school programs.

Meera Shanti, 17, has been playing the piano since the age of two. She is a senior at Olympia High School, and a junior member of Olympia Friends Meeting (Quakers). Besides the piano, she also studies jazz voice and is a competitive gymnast for Black Hills Gymnastics in Lacey, WA.

Suggested donation of $10, but no one will be turned away.

Checks payable to The Rachel Corrie Foundation
