Olympia Animal Rights is seeking signatures for a petition to screen the award winning documentary, Earthlings, at the Olympia Film Society.

If you would like to support bringing this informational documentary about Speciesism to the OFS by signing the petition, please contact olympiaar@gmail.com.

UPDATE: The OFS will be screening Earthlings on Monday, March 24th, at 6:30pm so that the petition is no longer circulating. Thank you!

Why do you need a petition?

Can't you just attend the film selection meeting (always open to the public)? Or just drop a suggestion in the drop box.

Did they tell you that they wouldn't show it for some reason? What is the reason?
»

Good Question...

I'm not sure what the reason is but Olympia Animal Rights was told that a petition was needed. I'm sorry I don't have more details than that.

Huh

I've never heard of such a thing at OFS.

I hope the petition reads "I will come see this film if it plays at OFS" because then it makes more sense. OFS is really hurting for money and needs to make sure that films are profitable.

So that's why member prices went up since last time I saw a movie.

Unfortunately, they may have to go up again.

It's still the cheapest movie in town, by quite a bit. And it's a double-feature!

I like that I have the opportunity to volunteer for a ticket. It's one of my favorite places to volunteer although I haven't done so in a while.

I think that might be the reason...OFS may have felt there wouldn't be enough public interest here in Oly but, as I said, I'm not sure of the details so I can't really say.

My error...the petition will be submitted along with the request. The request hasn't yet been formally made.

Thanks for your help in clearing this up!

I checked - they never contacted OFS

I just sent the woman who's in charge of choosing the films an email and apparently no one has contacted her about this. There's no need for a petition. I'll send you a private message to you with her email address so you can get in touch and request the film.

Compared to needing a bank

Compared to needing a bank loan for two movie tickets and popcorn at the big theaters I'm not complaining yet.
