Earlier this week an e-mail was sent to all students, faculty and staff at Evergreen outlining the reasons SDS was suspended on campus.
» Basically, the document shows how the SDS group failed to fully work with and disclose event details to administrators in charge of approving events during the moratorium. It should also be noted that the event would have been in violation of College policy even if the concert moratorium were not in effect. The event they held was a benefit for a third-party, which is apparently a violation of student activities policy. I gather that you cannot use student activity fee resources to raise money for a non-college sponsored person(s) or group. SDS admits they knew that if they had the event, it would be in violation. I've heard from several folks that SDS at one point decided it may be better to hold the event off campus. I am unsure as to why this did not happen. Administrators were notified when the benefit/concert event began, but did not stop the event while it was underway. Attached: PDF Document.
