My bicycle was stolen right out of my shed on the weekend of August 23rd. I live on the west side near Decatur and 9th. It is a Trek 4500, blue and white mountain bike with commuter tires, a left pannier, headlight, taillight, front fender, and rack (see attached picture). I am looking for any information that will help me find my bike and I am offering a reward for the person who helps me get it back! Please call me at 259-3966. I also want to warn people to be safe because these people came through my fence, onto my property, and into my shed, which is very scary and does not make me feel safe.

Stolen Bike!

Sorry to hear about it.

You might want to check out craigslist, I have heard that stolen items occasionally show up there.

Stolen bike

I'm sorry about your bike. I recently had my car stolen right from my driveway on Central and 11th, it's a terrible feeling. Maybe this will help, when my husband had his bike stolen out of the back of his van, he put a description of it with a photo all around town, he also went to the local pawn shops and left them a copy of his flyer, a short time later the thief tried to pawn the bike, within a mile of where it was stolen from! My husband got his bike back! Also, since not all pawn brokers are honest, go to some of the pawn shops pretending to be looking for a bike, they may have your bike in a back room waiting for a couple weeks to pass, before they put it out, but they usually can't resist $$$$ and will bring it out to see if you may be interested, then BAM, call the cops and you'll get your bike back. I have found that even though I work in a division of law enforcement, the victim has to advocate for themself, budgets are tight and there isn't the man power to keep tabs on every case. The guy who stole my car (the WSP stopped him the next day for no seatbelt, he had some of my stuff with him, including my photo ID) still hasn't been charged, because the fingerprints are still at the lab, so for the last six weeks he has probably been out stealing other cars, bikes or who knows what else. It really sucks, hell, he may even be the one that stole your bike, he's been doing it for years! Good luck to you finding your bike, and yes Craigs List, Ebay or To Good to Toss are all great places to look for stolen items

Public Surplus Auction

Right now there are 4 bikes up for bid in Western Washington with 3 days left.  3 of the auctions have no bids at all.  Must travel to WWU to pick-up this time.

Stolen Bike: Found!

I wanted to tell everyone that my bike has been found thanks to Olyblog.net. An officer from Oly PD was browsing the website and saw my posting and he had also seen a bike at the PD that matched my description. He called and told me to come down and check it out, and sure enough, it was my bike. It had been ditched on Martin Way. It was totally stripped of headlights etc., but in working condition. Just a note about serial numbers: I was given an 8 digit serial number by my bike shop, but the OPD uses the 8 digit number plus another 7 digit number that preceeds the serial number. So when the police ran the serial number on the found bike, it didn't fully match up with the one I had given the police. You would think the PD would have the ability to have their computer systems do scans and partial matches. Thanks to all the people who responded to my posting and gave me great advice on how to proceed. And I am thankful to the OPD for finding my bike. I have my wheels back! :)

Bike

Has the bike been found? I received notification of a comment entitled something like Bike Found! but it must have been trapped in the "spam filter." Bummer.

Anyway, I am curious about the details.
