The Stryker Brigade has arrived, as promised, at the Port of Olympia. Convoys of the vehicles, escorted by law enforcement, were driving down Plum Street toward the main gate. The Rail gates are locked.

Port employees were putting extra nuts on the Port Plaza gate and one, Mick, was even taunting this observer about his weight this morning. He seemed to be especially agitated and eager to call me out for a fight. Poor fellow, his overalls must be chafing. (Never f*%# with a journalist, Mick. We always get the last word...)

No sign yet of the Coast Guard or the ship which will likely arrive soon, within 48 hours if past experience is a guide. The tides are favorable all week for large ships in port.

Re: coast guard

For the first time in over nine years I am entertaining an old freind from the Tacoma/Puyallup area at our lovely docks & landings(near the viewing tower), and "lo and behold" a "zodiac"-style patrol boat is cruising the scene-- a coast guard unit, with a heavy machine gun deployed in the forward gun port (a tripod like gun mount in front of the pilot cabin). --this really shocked me! I had not expected to see that here in Olympia, and it was disgraceful. I expect our gov to protect civil liberties and freedom in the US and abroad, but not at gunpoint; without any sign of opposing forces present.

Gee, maybe you should lose a little weight and the guy might actually be afraid of taunting you. You aren't exactly intimidating there big guy. Obviously the Sheriff's dept. didn't find you too intimidating.
