My bicycle was stolen right out of my shed on the weekend of August 23rd. I live on the west side near Decatur and 9th. It is a Trek 4500, blue and white mountain bike with commuter tires, a left pannier, headlight, taillight, front fender, and rack (see attached picture). I am looking for any information that will help me find my bike and I am offering a reward for the person who helps me get it back! Please call me at 259-3966. I also want to warn people to be safe because these people came through my fence, onto my property, and into my shed, which is very scary and does not make me feel safe.

I don't typically think of Oly as being full of bike thieves, but the listings on Craigslist say otherwise. What's going on?

And the kicker is this one:

  • 1983 Trek 501 road bike. Thief pushed the rider in the bushes, grabbed the bike and took off. Stolen in West Oly on Cooper Point Rd. just off the road across from Capitol HS field. Crazy!

What is going on?!?!

A little bit of air in the tires and the old mountain bike is back on the road. It is crazy weird switching from a road bike back to this behemoth. Particularly because I’m switching back from the typical road bike moustache style handlebars to cruiser style; which means instead of hunching over my bike I’m now sitting tall and feel a little bit like Elmira Gulch (aka the Wicked Witch of the West).

Yesterday I found out my bike had been stolen over the weekend. I left it chained to a rack in the parking lot of the building where I work and then headed up to Seattle to see the opening night of the David Lynch/Twin Peaks Festival at the Seattle Art Museum. It was fun; I sat two seats behind Kimmy Robertson (aka Lucy Moran from Twin Peaks), saw my old friend KTJ, and caught the premeire of Jennifer Lynch's new movie Surveillance. If it hadn't been for the headache brought on by the screechy sound effects in Surveillance and the stomachache I got from having Red Vines and beer for dinner, it would have been awesome.

Stop Driving at the Co-op

I would never participate in such an ironic display of civil disobedience but if I did I would go about it in the following way... I would first go to a website called zazzle.com and do a search for driving bumper stickers or just go -> here.

Then I would get with a friend and pool up some money to order these bumper stickers in bulk for a discount. Lastly, I would wait until dark and ride my bike around town placing the stickers at high traffic stop signs.

I would also check them periodically to note when they are taken down so I can sticker them again.
