My name is Alex Mutnick,I am a local photographer, and several months ago I submitted to the Seattle PI to have a reader blog covering local Olympia art events and local artists. The PI agreed that it was a good idea and I will start the blog in the next couple of weeks. I currently am curating two galleries that are looking for unknown artists, and I would like so good candidates for monthly stories. I am reaching out to the community to please let me know what you would like to see covered in my blog and if there are any artists you would like to see written about. please send information to olyartblog@gmail.com
Thanks,
Alex Mutnick

I just posted a new blog entry at my blog, In the Course of Events, about the ethics of corporate power re: social and environmental degradation. It needs some work, in terms of defining exactly what I mean when I use the terms of social and environmental degradation, and otherwise. But here's a link anyway, just in case you're interested: corporate power ethics social environmental degradation bert

I hear that folks liked being able to talk about non-local topics on OlyBlog, and I'm sympathetic. I would like to see a hyperlocal discussion of larger issues -- that's one of the functions that I originally hoped the blog would take on. So, I invite people to start threads about topics that are of local interest either because they are happening in Olympia, or because they will affect our life here in Olympia. In truth, the prohibition on non-local content was more to limit the extreme vitriol than anything. I want to invite people to remain respectful while addressing this wider range of topics. Talk to each other with the spirit that you may run into each other on the corner or at the coffee shop. If you are having trouble sticking to the issues and engaging in personal attacks, then take a break. Leave it alone. The blog (and all its participants) will still be here when you cool down.

As you may have noticed, I've been moving things around a bit.
