I called Radio 8 Ball again tonight, as the 2nd to last caller, and mentioned that when you google: radio 8 ball, I'm the 8th hit. Andras checked it on the spot but didn't see what I was talking about. Then I asked, "How radical will the changes be at work this week?" The song was "Figure 8" (originally from Schoolhouse Rock) by Duplex (featuring Veda Hille) from the Album "Ablum" The divination: Me: Wow! We were just talking about the 8th hit for Radio 8 Ball and we get this song about 8! Also, it's a Schoolhouse Rock song, and I work at a school. It's about multiplication, and we've been doing that, I even specifically went over 'two eights fell on the floor, picked 'em up and they were 64'. It's by Duplex, and I live in a duplex! Thinking about the skating and the weather, I wonder if things will freeze over and not much change will actually happen. Maybe a snow day. Maybe if I skate, I will be great. Andras: The line that pops out for me is: "If you skate upon thin ice/ You'd be wise if you thought twice/ Before you made another single move", so be careful and graceful. Plus it was first aired in 1973. Does that have any meaning for you? Me: I was four in 1973, so that's half of eight. [after the fact: that was when we moved west to Portland from Ann Arbor] Andras: Some inner child stuff going on.

Cocolina's mom, Barbara, came over to pick her up for the MLK jr. weekend. They were either to say their good-byes or reconnect and figure out how to immigrate to Germany together. She seemed to be reluctant to We would be staying in West Linn with Oma Barbara. At my day job, we've recently had to seek the input of a district head honcho - named Barbara. In the greater world, on the day we drove down to Oregon, a college student was abducted in Reno. She had been attending Santa Barbara City College. In Oma Barbara's fridge was a tub of Santa Barbara Mango Peach salsa, the sister company of Chachie's. [I'm on my way to a new year's resolution of trying 12 salsas in 2008!] All these connections led me to the wikipedia entry on Saint Barbara, the patron saint of lightning and now clearly a connection to the repetition of the word 'Electrified' in the song of the same name by Dressy Bessy I got when calling Radio 8 Ball to ask about whether we'd keep Cocolina. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeBdakicGYE& Q: why is Saint Barbara the patron saint of lightning? A: after her father beheaded her for converting, he was struck by lightning. The shepherd who betrayed her location was turned to a marble statue, and his flock turned to GRASSHOPPERS!

Coco's mom called Trish and will give us the opportunity to adopt her for the price of the cage. We'd been birdsitting, and she'd been paying US $50 a month. Hmmm. On Tuesday, Dec 25th, I called the Radio 8 Ball again with the house full of family: Grampa Dave, Grama Julie, Oma Barbara, Bibi Betsy, Uncle Nick, Trish, Orion, and Jusby. I asked for a song that would have some significance for everyone in the house. I Wanna Be Your LoverLyrics by Bob Dylan Performed by Yo La Tengo on the Soundtrack of "I'm Not There: suppositions on a film concerning Dylan" Well, the rainman comes with his magic wand I wanna be your lover, baby, I wanna be your man. Well, the undertaker in his midnight suit I wanna be your lover, baby, I wanna be your man. Well, jumpin' Judy can't go no higher. I wanna be your lover, baby, I wanna be your man.

Jusby hasn't forgotten Traditions Fair Trade Café and World Folk Art!
He DID forget that Orca books is also a KAOS patron business, but since he didn't buy any used books he wasn't going to get a 10% discount anyway.
HOWEVER, if someone's shopping for Jusby, they do have several used books on clowning and juggling you could get him ! [Hint-hint]
Jusby got his KAOS membership card by contributing $8.93 during Radio 8-Ball for the last "Fall Fun Drive". And furthermore, he and Orion went over to the station last Tuesday and dropped off a CD of Andras Jones playing at Traditions from long ago.
If Andras needs any idea of a solstice present for Jusby, he could reciprocate by burning CDs of old shows from prior to 2006 - when Jusby first got that handy mp3 player! [hint-hint] Or maybe a Shmuskin CD!
