This week, the city council is about what next steps to take in terms of parket downtown (how should we build a parking garage?) and talking about the Town Hall meeting.

Almost every week this is the "What's on the city council's plate this week" review. I don't cover everything, so if you want the full rundown, read the packet and agenda yourself.

1. The city council will consider how and when they are going to build something to address parking downtown. The Parking Advisory Committee would like some answers to these questions:

1. Are downtown goals still current, or have they or should they be updated (downtown housing, 24-hour downtown, market driven, etc.)?
2. What is the Council’s purpose or intent in building a parking structure in downtown Olympia?
3. What segment of the community (downtown employees, visitors, etc.) takes priority in establishing which needs are met by building a parking structure in downtown?
4. Does the City Council oppose the PAC working with other entities (Washington State, Port of Olympia, etc.) in creating a win/win solution through a potential parking structure

2. Two weeks ago the city council held a Town Hall meeting on funding priorities, what people want to spend money on, what they could see cut, and what they'd spend more for. The council and assembled citizens split up into three groups, which each produced some notes on the above topics. Other than the city council's impressions, this is what we have to go by to gauge what our desires are.

Each report had similar categories, but not exactly the same categories, so I squished all three together as much as I could.
