What's happening in Oly-town today?

Yippee!

This is the day I pay rent! I didn't have anything else I'd rather spend that money on, no sir.

allergies

Allergies are happening, that's what.  The grass pollen is only at 6.2 (out of 12), but it's just KILLING me today.  My eyes are so bloodshot that the whites of my eyes are actually -swollen- around my pupil.  I hate taking medication for allergies, but I think that this may be the year that I start.

Anybody got any all-natural remedies that work for them?  I'd like to remove dependency on the pharmacy to take care of my allergies, so if anybody has any "proven-to-work-for-me" kind of information, let me know!

That's weird your allergies are so bad. Maybe it's something other than grass.

Nothing systemic that I can think of

is it just your eyes giving you problems, or the whole tamale?

allergies 2008

I'm allergic to pollens and this has been by far the single worst allergy season I've ever gone through. The heat over the last several days has helped mine subside quite a bit, though, as everything gets a little dried out. Unfortunately I've read a couple of theories around global climate change that has regions like ours increasing in allergens throughout the process.

Adding local honey to my food helps some. I've heard other people swear by nettle tea, but I still haven't tried that. Aside from those, washing my hands and face about 200 times a day gives some relief. Next year I'm going to try getting out and working in the soil more...inoculation by nature.

Eyebright

I take an eyebright/nettle tincture from Herbpharm, and it seems to reduce symptoms a fair amount.

Haze

Has anyone noticed how hazy it's been? Maybe the allergies are caused by pollution. I can't remember it being this hazy.

I don't know, but...

in Southeast downtown there's a ridiculous amount of dust in the air due to the WSECU construction going on. I about chocked on my tongue walking through it all yesterday.

I was in Portland yesterday,

I was in Portland yesterday, and locals there were commenting on the brilliance of their sunsets due to the fires in CA. Maybe we're getting a little particulate from that as well?

don't want to jinx it...

Last couple of years I had allergies pretty bad and this year it's not so bad.

I think it might have something to do with me riding the bike to work (exercise), eating more healthy (CSA from Kirsop Farm, yummi) and not working in an air conditioned room for most of the summer.

They always say, that your body can fend off those attacks, if it's strong enought - I'm starting to believe that!
