2008 WEST OLYMPIA APPLE HARVEST & COMMUNITY CIDER PRESS

~September 13, 2008~

NEIGHBORHOOD APPLE HARVEST @ 10:00 am
(Meet at Woodruff Park)
Join your neighbors as we harvest unused fruit from West Olympia’s many productive but forgotten fruit trees.

COMMUNITY CIDER PRESS @ 1:00 pm
(Woodruff Park)
Enjoy the fruits of our labors and the taste of our neighborhood with an old-fashioned cider press.

BACKGROUND: The West Olympia Apple Harvest (WOAH!) organizes volunteers to glean the apples, pears, and plums from the trees of cooperating landowners—yielding hundreds of apples for the Thurston County Food Bank, other participating organizations, and our hungry volunteers. Now in its second year, WOAH is coordinated by Tall Trees Youth Stewardship Project, a new youth empowerment, ecological restoration, and sustainable community building initiative in Olympia.

I've been gleaning fallen fruit from all around the county since I was a lad. See ya there.
