Again with the caveat that I am a clueless newcomer and this may be a non-issue, but what's with the disconnect between the post office and some (at least my upcoming landlord's) practice? I'm referring specifically to the area of 60th Loop, S.E., zip code 98513 (referred to by one wry utility worker as "unincorporated county so we belong to no one at all...")? The post office calls this Lacey, my upcoming landlord calls this Olympia....

It works like this...
Submitted by Anonymously Larry on Sat, 09/22/2007 - 6:15am.We have three cities, Olympia, Tumwater and Lacey that are very close to each other. If you live inside the city limits that makes you a resident of that city, otherwise you live in unincorporated Thurston County. To make matters less clear, certain ZIP codes have been somewhat designated to certain cities, although not in an incorporated area.
As long as you can figure out how to get to The Brotherhood and back home, all is well.

On the map Olympia looks
Submitted by Merwyn Haskett on Sat, 09/22/2007 - 6:47am.As for Lacey the Oly-Lacey border is supposed to be Sleater-Kinney (my cousins grew up in a development right across from North Thurston High School. They had an Olympia address, walked barely a quarter-mile down their road, crossed Sleater-Kinney into Lacey and went to school outside of the Olympia School District.) A lot of people consider the businesses between the Pacific Ave. Exit and Sleater-Kinney to be in Lacey, but really it's Oly.
If you want to get stereotypical (and take this with a handful of salt) Tumwater has cowboys, Lacey has soldiers, and Olympia has hippies.
Why, you better go back to beautiful Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Georgia, Tennessee.
lol that last sentence is

Don't sweat the address thing. It will all make a little more sense when you get here. Just don't light your fireworks off if you live in the actual city of lacey. OH, and don't own nuclear weapons if you live in Oly.
Olympia is for hippies...
